Description

Circa 1860. In the National Register, this inn is a square-block Italianate contoured in a low hip-roof design. Later additions reflecting the Queen Anne period include a suspended spiral staircase, crystal windows, ornately carved mantels and moldings, bay windows and porches. A sea captain built the handsome cupola that became a favorite spot for making taffy. In the 1920s, the cupola was a place from which to spot offshore rumrunners. Guests enjoy afternoon tea with stories of the Maine Stay's heritage. Two suites and one room in the main building and six of the cottage rooms have working fireplaces.

Breakfast Creme Brulee

This less sweet, egg-y brulee is a great source of protein in the morning!

Apple Crisp

A yummy traditional Apple Crisp recipe that is excellent for breakfast with a substantial amount of eggs, country ham, and slices of cheddar cheese.

Eggs With Cream And Spinach

At the Maine Stay, we love to serve something green at breakfast - and creamed spinach just hits the spot!

East Coast

We have traveled the East Coast from Martha's Vineyard to Bar Harbor, and this is the only place we know we must return to.

Engagement

Terry and I stayed in one of the cottages 11 1/2 years ago and it was the most romantic time for us. The occasion ~ Engagement ~ It was December 21st and we enjoyed champagne by a wonderful fireplace. In my glass was a beautiful diamond ring. We could not have had a more cozy and romantic place for our engagement. The Innkeepers were wonderfully hospitable, the room beautifully appointed. The breakfast wonderful. We love the town...the B&B is a place I would recommend to anyone. Do put it on your list when visiting Kennebunkport!
