Ours is one of the Twin Mansions on the Prairie started in 1872 and completed in 1876. The Mansions were build for sisters who were sent with their husbands to open the bank of Fort Scott as we anticipated this town to become the Rail Center of the Frontier. These were the first mansions to be built in our city, many others followed, making this a favored site for architecture and history buffs.

My Favorite B&B Within the State is in Fort Scott.

My favorite B&B within the state is Fort Scott. There is a DARLING bed and breakfast called Lyons Twin Mansions. Charlie and I have been 3 times already. It's a cute small town, has hiking/nature trails nearby, historical Fort Scott, and nice cafes/local bars and only an hour away from the city.

An Amazing Anniversary!!

My husband and I just celebrated our one year anniversary at the Twin Mansions. One word...wow!! Miss Pat and her staff went above and beyond to make our stay super special. We indulged in a Welcome Surprise of cheese, crackers, fruit and wine, which was waiting in the Emerald Bay suite for us upon arrival. The suite was incredible and we will be back to enjoy the hot tub/shower/sauna very soon, hopefully! I had planned for us to stay in a different suite the second night, but we loved our room so much we decided not to move, after all. The second night we had a private three course dinner at Nate's Place which exceeded our expectations by a long shot! Miss Lori, our chef, helped me surprise my husband with a slow dance to our wedding song, which brought joyful tears to my husband, and myself. Each night, while we were having dinner, the staff at the mansion helped me to arrange a surprise of cake, champagne, gifts, rose petals, candles, etc., that were awaiting us in our suite. We will always cherish the romantic memories we made during our stay. We didn't want to leave and can't wait to go back! Thank you, Miss Pat, for making this an anniversary that will be hard to top!

Wonderful experience

As a quick getaway or a place to spend the weekend, I highly recommend the Lyons Twin Mansions! The rooms are cozy and the service is outstanding. Miss Pat went out of her way to make the stay fantastic. The candlelight light dinner hosted and prepared by Miss Lori was perfect!

Romantic Getaway

We stayed here for our anniversary this past Thursday night and it was so romantic. The bed was super comfortable, the room was quiet and we really enjoyed the hammocks and feeding the fish in the coy pond. The breakfast at Nate's place was delicious as well! If you are looking for a nice and relaxing time away, this is it!

Beautiful retreat

My wife and I spent our 22nd anniversary here. It was wonderful. The palace is a romantic getaway. We enjoyed the grounds. The hammock by the coi pond is a great place to spent the evening. The dinner for two was fabulous. I recommend the Chateaubriand for two it was excellent. We brought orange juice and had mimosas in the morning with the bottle of champagne in our room. The lovers package comes with roses, chocolates and champagne. The rose pedals scattered in the room was a nice touch.

Always a Memorable Stay

Always a memorable stay. We have been coming here for 13 years. The most special part is the bed and breakfast owners Larry and Pat. Everything is excellent from the rooms to the steam showers to the gourmet breakfasts. It is the place to make memories and to come back to over and over.

I loved being able to stay in the mansion! The room we had was very large and nice. Unfortunately, the bathroom had several issues.

luxurious but casually comfortable

Delightful beautiful home exceeded expectations. So much to do in surrounding area and such a pleasure to return to our comfortable but elegant room/suite. The food and service was exceptional. Very private and intimate. Such nice amenities included, smart tv, refreshments in room, beautiful delicious breakfast. Can't wait to get back to Fort Scott.

Outstanding

We took a weekend trip to Fort Scott from Wichita to see the town and found this option, I think it was Trip Advisor. Sorry. Anyway, it was excellent. Great communication before, during and after our stay from Miss Pat. We had a great room, super service. We also had a drink in the bar and that was a treat, and then the private dinner that night, prepared by Miss Lori. Fantastic! It was a very special visit and we will come back to Fort Scott just to stay here again. Highly recommended. Also, go to the Gordon Parks museum and the fort while you're in town. On our next visit, we plan to simply relax at Twin Mansions - sit on the porch and read. Oh boy - can't wait.

Wonderful weekend getaway

Lyons Twin Mansion is a little gem in Ft Scott. Miss Pat, Miss Lori and all the other staff are very accommodating, friendly and so knowledgeable about the history of the mansions and Ft Scott. Nate's Place is a cozy restaurant with exceptional breakfasts. We had the formal dinner and it was seriously one of the best meals I have ever had!! Ms Pat and the crew made my stay wonderful

Having started a 21 day cleanse my first thought was how will I make this work? Well the staff went over and above to help, the chefs altered meals to be vegan in nature to accommodate me, and it was really good! Staying in the mansion was a really special experience and Ms Pat is my new friend! Thanks to everyone at the Twin Mansions, a must stay!

Anniversary Weekend

Excellent Weekend away for our anniversary. The mansions have a delicate balance of old world charm and modern convenience and flexibility. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Nate's Place was also a very good experience. The food quality was excellent. The service of pretty good. Having the bar onsite for an evening nightcap or three was icing on the cake. We will go back again.

What a treat

We decided to stay here on an overnight visit to Fort Scott and, boy, were we glad we did. Pat was so accommodating prior to the visit and so gracious once we arrived. Our room was excellent - large, well-appointed, great bed, cool, nice bathroom. There are so many great rooms (we peeked in a few). We opted for dinner at Twin Mansions. We stopped at the lounge early for a cocktail and really enjoyed that. What a great spot. Dinner was wonderful. Chef Lori went all out. Food was superb, wine was tasty and a great value, and the ambiance was incredible. There are lots of things to do in Fort Scott - we went to the fort and to the Gordon Parks museum. We will go back just to stay at Twin Mansions - such a pleasant stay. Thanks, Miss Pat!!

Enchanting!!

What am amazing experience! Staying at The Lyons Mansion was like taking a small step out of reality and back in time. Everyone we met was kind and courteous and the warmth of our fire was only matched by the warmth of Ms. Pat. The rooms are exceptionally clean and cozy and the food so exquisite it was hard to decide on one dish. Even the small ice storm outside just added to the beauty. This was my husband and I's first time staying at The Lyons, but that night will forever hold a special place in our hearts and we definitely plan on returning.

Beautiful, cozy, & romantic!

Such a beautiful place to enjoy our 35th Anniversary! The staff was so accommodating, the food was great, it was peaceful and enjoyable! We highly recommend and will definitely be back! The town was nice, too, not too far from KC area, but not too close. We found a micro brewery and had a drink, and had a wonderful meal at a local restaurant.

Anniversary trip

My husband and I had a great time! The room was incredible and very clean. We also LOVE the food at Nate's place. Also, this time we also went to the onsite bar, and I had a wonderful Martini (or two); while hubs stuck mainly with beer. I recommend The Lyons Twin Mansion to all my friends. We love it so much, we were married in the Mansion 16 years ago!!! Love, love, love.

Overnight Stay Before a Workshop

I needed to travel into the area the day before a training and decided to stay at the Twin Mansions the evening before my training. This was a smart decision on my part. It made giving up a Sunday for work an enjoyable event. The mansion was beautiful and inviting. The host was warm and easy to work with. She did made sure my stay was comfortable. I plan to go back with my husband at some point. I want him to experience the historical sites and town with me.

Best B&B Hotel In Ft Scott!

I loved staying at Lyons' Twin Mansions B&B Hotel! I actually stayed in the Carriage house, not in one of the mansions & it was lovely! The Emerald Cove was very comfortable & roomy. The shower/tub/steam spa was glass enclosed & amazing! Changing colored lights & radio made it really relaxing. Stay there & find out why it is called the Emerald Cove room! Miss Pat & Larry are wonderful hosts. And the maid service is impeccable! I will always stay there when visiting Ft Scott, Kansas.

Amazing, Romantic 1st Anniversary

We loved our stay at the Lyons Mansions! My husband surprised me for our 1 year Anniversary with red roses, a private steak dinner and an overnight stay in the Mandalay Room. When we first arrived in our room, I was delighted with a layout of cake, strawberries and sparkling grape juice. The thoughtful man must have arranged for a romance package. With a fluffy snuggle-chair for two, a chromatic hot tub for two, and a comfy king bed, it was HIGHLY ROMANTIC! Back to our food. Our private 3 course dinner began with mixed greens with signature granola, followed by bacon-wrapped filet mignon, augratin potatoes, and grilled vegetables, and ended with warm caramel-apple crisp a la mode. Breakfast boasted fruit-topped waffles, breakfast burrito, eggs, and sweet potato hash. Simply delicious! Miss Pat reflected her beautiful home's warm elegance. She was so sweet and accommodating with our questions and needs. What a special and memorable first anniversary!
