The staff caters to your every whim and treated us like royalty. The hottub in our villa was the ultimate in relaxation. I am already planning my next trip North.

Circa 1952. At this iconic property on the North Shore of Lake Superior you’ll find Old World charm blended with all the contemporary amenities. While the resort dates back to 1885, the current 32 room Scandinavian design inn was built in 1952. The inn overlooks a large pebble beach on Lake Superior where the Poplar River cascades through rapids and waterfalls to enter the lake.
Most visitors mix some heavy relaxation with their activities. The candlelit lakeside dining room, which won Wine Spectator Magazine awards in 2008 and 2009, provides casual fine dining while the pub offers lighter fare. The massage and wellness center provides individual and couples massage while many and the cozy lodge lobby has comfortable chairs to sink into by the fireplace. Watching the many faces of Lake Superior is a favorite activity for most guests. The Adirondack chairs on the 1000 foot beach are a favorite spot for lake watching.
Guests enjoy many complimentary amenities including the pool/whirlpool/sauna, shuffleboard court, 9 hole “pitch & putt” golf course, guided hikes and sea-kayak tours, fly-fishing classes, yoga, kid’s camp, naturalist programs, xc ski and snowshoe tours, shuttles to nearby hikes and much more.
