Guest House Log Cottages

The DIY Network’s Blog Cabin TV series — where web bloggers get to design and decorate a cabin being built in Tennessee’s Great Smoky Mountains – hits the airwaves on Thursday, August 16, 2007. But you don’t have to wait to see how the series turns out before enjoying your own log cabin experience: There are numerous log cabin Bed and Breakfasts to be found across the United States, through the quick access provided by www.iLoveInns.com.

Log Mansions

Run of the River B&B

Run of the River B&B

The wonderful Run of the River B&B in Leavenworth, Washington is an expansive, two-story wood-and-log mansion on the banks of the Icicle River. Inside, you can travel back in time in rustic rooms replete with wooden furniture and log four-poster beds! Outside, the Run of the River B&B offers spectacular views of the Cascade Mountains, and is adjacent to a bird sanctuary and wildlife refuge with deer grazing, salmon running and bird feeding.

Private Bed and Breakfast Log Cottages
Want to stay in a log cabin all your own? Then reserve the 1812 Loom House at the Mast Farm Bed & Breakfast in Valle Crucis, North Carolina. Inside its authentic log walls and interior, “The Loom House has been transformed into a romantic weekend or long weekend getaway cabin for two with modern conveniences,” says the Mast farm’s web site. “Downstairs in the living area is a massage tub for two (with scented bubble bath) across the room from the original wood-burning fireplace. A wet bar is nearby. A cozy bedroom with queen bed and a small bath with a corner shower are upstairs. The private porch, with its own rockers, faces the farmhouse.” The Mast Farm also has two other log dwellings to rent: The Blacksmith Shop, and the Woodwork Shop.

Elegant With Cooking School

Savory Inn & Cooking School

Savory Inn & Cooking School

Vail’s Savory Inn & Cooking School combines a magnificent twelve bedroom log cabin beside Colorado’s Gore Creek with an on-site cooking school! Nestled in the Rocky Mountains, this B&B boasts a rustic yet elegant atmosphere. You can relax by the river rock fireplace in the great room, or enjoy a chat on the creek-side patio or on the porch. There are even in-room massages, hearty breakfasts, and gold-medal fly-fishing outdoors in Gore Creek! Or you can leave everyone else to fish, and soak in the Savory Inn’s outdoor hot tub.

Island Log Cottage
Washington State’s Guest House Log Cottages are set in 25 wooded acres on Whidbey Island. This is a magical place where you can escape into an authentic log cabin, and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature all around you. Suitably named ‘The Cabin’, this B&B log home comes with stained-glass and criss-cross pane windows, the wood burning stove, jacuzzi for two, and a deck with expansive views of the wildlife pond.

Rare Vertical Log Mansion

Knickerbocker Mansion Country Inn
Knickerbocker Mansion Country Inn

Our last stop is the Knickerbocker Mansion Country Inn on Big Bear Lake, California. Built by Bill Knickerbocker in 1920 – he was the first local dam keeper – this B&B is one of the few vertically designed log structures in the United States. The Knickerbocker backs directly onto the San Bernardino National Forest, which offers hiking, biking and many more outdoor activities. Many of the rooms are paneled in rich, natural wood; truly a refuge from all the craziness of modern life…. except for watching Blog Cabin, of course!

Enchanted Forest Log Cabin
The J. Patrick House in Cambria, California is a log home and carriage house B&B nestled in the woods. This is a tranquil, restful place with picturesque gardens. Inside, this B&B’s rooms are decorated with country/traditional decor, and offer wood-burning fireplaces/stoves and private baths. Fresh fruits, homemade granola and freshly baked breads and muffins are part of the full morning meal. Wine and hors d’oeuvres are served each evening in the main house’s fireplaced living room. Best yet, “killer” chocolate chip cookies and cold milk are served before bedtime.
