Description

Circa 1874. Originally built in 1874 as the first schoolhouse in Ojai, California, the elegantly renovated and updated Lavender Inn offers the amenities of a boutique hotel and the comforts of home. Each of the guest bedrooms in the main house has a distinctive personality and style. Fireplaces, Jacuzzis, private balconies, art and antiques accent the inn. The spacious Provence Cottage boasts a fireplace, entertainment center and kitchenette in the living room. Schedule a relaxing facial, aromatherapy or in-room massage. A gourmet buffet breakfast is served in the dining room or on the veranda overlooking lush gardens with a pond, fountains and private sitting areas. The setting is perfect for weddings, workshops, meetings or reunions. Shops, restaurants and galleries are across the street.

Historic Interest

Lavender Inn was originally the first schoolhouse in the town of Nordoff, which was changed to Ojai during World War 2. It was later the home of the Ojai mayor then later Ojai Manor Hotel. In 1996 it was converted to a Bed & Breakfast renamed to Moons Nest Inn. The Hartleys bought the buildings in 2003 and changed the name to Lavender Inn, lovingly remodeling through the years.

Charming Old Inn!!

A wonderful, historic inn that's been beautifully updated. The staff is friendly and helpful, there's a small spa next door and it's right in the middle of the small downtown. You can walk to everything, including many good restaurants. It's a small gem so book ahead.

Home Away from Home

The Provence Cottage is spacious, quiet, and comfortable. The Cottage features a living room and bedroom with a private entrance and easy access to the Inn's kitchen, garden area via a gate from the private yard, and parking lot. The hospitality was wonderful with a nice cooked breakfast and newspapers. The Inn was very welcoming to our two small dogs.
