Between Austin and San Antonio on the Guadalupe River, stands this inn with large decks that overlook the river. Peace and tranquility are at the heart of guests' experience at the Lambs Rest, where they can hear the sounds of birds and wildlife during the day and draw up close to the crackling fire at night. Two large decks and a garden terraced to the river invites relaxation with fountains, ponds, herb gardens, large oaks and giant cypress trees. The six accommodations include one suite and one cottage. A full gourmet breakfast is served in the dining room or on the veranda overlooking the river. Breakfast fare includes such delights as Orange Frosty Frappe, Vancluse Eggs with asparagus and red pepper sauce, cheese grits, sausage, and a variety of homemade breads and biscuits served with the inn's special honeys, jams and sauces. During the spring and summer, Bluebonnets and other Texas wildflowers abound in nearby breathtaking fields. Between the quiet Comal River and the rapids of the Guadalupe River, guests can enjoy a variety of water sports including kayaking, rafting, canoeing, tubing and fly-fishing.

Left feeling like we wasted money!

The only thing preventing me from giving this place a great review and recommending it to all is the fact that the owners did not give us great service. Judy never introduced herself. Each room is given a Keurig machine with 4 K-Cups with a note that says any extra cups are $1. There is also a little candy dish with bite-size treats with a sign that says 25 cents each. The house is kept at 68 degrees no matter what and it is cold. The worst part is our last night we wanted to sit in the spa, eat a simple and easy dinner, and enjoy the grounds. At the grocery store I called Judy out of courtesy to make sure we could pop a frozen pizza in the over really quickly and she said no, only the staff uses the kitchen and it will be locked when they leave. Don't pay good money and expect these people to go the extra mile whatsoever!

Management Response
I apologize that you were unhappy with your stay. In looking back over your visit, I realized that all of the other guests were repeat customers with whom we had an established rapport. I am sorry that upon seeing them, I got swept away in catching up and apparently overlooked making a point of introducing myself to you. I understand the concerns which you have mentioned, and we have taken them into consideration. With regards to the kitchen, you are welcome to bring meals in and a microwave, refrigerator, dishes and silverware are readily available in the dining room, however, it is our policy that we do not open the kitchen to our guests. Again, I apologize for your dissatisfaction with our service. This is very uncharacteristic of our inn, our service is one of the things most praised in our reviews.

This place is beautiful, wonderful, relaxing, a breathe of fresh air! My husband & I have been going back each year (at least once a year) for 4 years. The innkeepers are welcoming and make you feel at home. I would definitely recommend this place for a time of relaxation!!
