Romantic Interest
The ambiance, all the natural wood, being surrounded by charm and coziness makes for an enchanting stay every time. You can hear and feel the waves of Lake Michigan and the fog horns.
Historic Interest
The style of the Inn is classic, with the wide front porch and white railings, the balcony and the big windows and gables. The white and green accents are typical "lodgey" colors. All the beadboard is original inside and the Victorian antiques have been here since 1873! A lot of the bed frames are the wrought iron frames from the 30s and the drapes are from the 40s! Even some of the lamps have been here forever! The pine floors have been refinished but were lumbered here where white pine was plentiful. The kitchen has built in cupboards and a 1930s stove.

“So charming!”
Patty R11/21/2009
I love the Khardomah Lodge! I've been coming there since around 1985, when I discovered it after a day relaxing on the beach..it's just enough off the beaten path yet close enough to downtown to make it convenient. I feel cozy and wrapped up in warm feelings when I go there.it really takes me back to quieter days and makes me appreciate the important things..like nature..the wooded setting has deer and other wildlife, and allows me some peace of mind!

InnSide Tip - rustic, not fancy in main lodge
there aren't many places left like this..it is more like going to stay at a cottage than a hotel with room service, so don't expect someone coming to make your bed, people are friendly and there if you really need something but otherwise you can use the kitchen and treat it more like a home
