Key Falls Inn

Circa 1860. The back section of this fascinating Victorian farmhouse was constructed prior to the Civil War and the front section after the war. The meadow in front of the home is reputed to have been a Civil War encampment area. The inn sits on 35 acres near Blue Ridge Parkway and Pisgah National forest with hiking and bike trails and numerous waterfalls. Accommodations include two suites, decorated in Victorian and other antiques and reproductions. In addition to the guest rooms at Key Falls Inn, there is now a guest room with a private entrance at River Bend, which is a historic reproduction home near the inn on five wooded acres overlooking the French Broad River. The spacious guest bedroom has a fireplace and refrigerator. A breakfast basket with fresh baked good and fruit is placed in the room each day. Guests in the farmhouse feast on a full breakfast that includes dishes such as breakfast bacon or sausage with eggs or a hot casserole. Juice, fruit compote, biscuits, sweet rolls, French toast, cereal and bananas are additional offerings. The Key Falls Trail begins at the inn and climbs toward a waterfall. A pond on the property, fed by a cascading stream, has two docks for sunning or fishing for bass or bream. There's also a waterfall on the property. A porch with the requisite rockers boasts a spectacular view of the mountains. The inn is 45 minutes from Biltmore Estate, 15 miles from the Carl Sandburg Home and 35 miles from the Thomas Wolfe Home.
