Romantic BnB

This is an excellent BnB! Janet and Warren are so nice and genuine and really enjoy working with people and making their guests happy. The house is beautiful and cozy. By far the best BnB we have ever stayed in. We were looking for a quiet place to getaway and celebrate our first wedding anniversary and could not have picked a more perfect place to come. Janet was extremely kind and patient when I was making the reservation and asking a lot of questions about the house and the area. She was very knowledgeable and patient! About the house – very clean-spotless in fact, warm and cozy. The hosts have thought of everything and then some. They have a ton of books, movies and board games you may use if you want. A self serve fridge and snack area along with coffee and Tea area(with tons of flavor choices),wine glasses and bottle opener that was open for guest use 24 hours. The best part of this was the yummy homemade cookies always available. In addition to the several rooms and seating areas inside they also had some outside and the landscaping was very well done –lots of fall touches everywhere. They also had a microwave for guest use if you needed it. They were kind enough to keep our wedding cake topper(since it was our 1 year anniversary) in their large fridge for us until we wanted it also which we greatly appreciated. Our room: We stayed in the Wayne room although I would stay in any of them. The room was as I said spotless and had a nice size bathroom and awesome shower. It also had a fireplace, seating area, robes plenty of towels, blankets and pillows. The room also had some special features such as fresh flowers, little dish of candy, shampoo, conditioner, soap, makeup remover cloths, hairdryer and a really useful"in case you forgot it" basket with a variety of items for guest use. The bed was large and very comfy. We spent a lot of time in the room reading, watching TV and relaxing. It was the perfect atmosphere for that! The Food: The breakfasts were tasty and beautifully presented and always several courses. The first day we had Angelic Bananas, scones, pumpkin stuffed french toast with an amazing pecan maple syrup and bacon. The second day we had baked apples, a sausage egg and cheese strata and toast with a selection of Janet's homemade jams. Each day also included several juice choices, coffee and tea. Everything was baked or made from scratch and was delicious and very filling. They want you to be full and graciously offered seconds of everything if you wanted it. Janet makes many different varieties of homemade jams and jellies and we got some to take home. They go above and beyond to make your visit the best it can be and were full of information about the area, gave directions and made recommendations. They also had a book of local menus and a shelf with local attraction information, coupons and maps. We would without a doubt recommend this BnB to anyone and plan to come back over the summer. They helped make our anniversary very special and memorable and we are grateful to them for that.

Customer Service

I have to say I was moved by the understanding of staff to my particular situation. These are just great people. I now regret that I will not be able to stay in their lovely establishment but I encourage everyone traveling up in that area to check this place out. Again its often the People that make a trip great, and this place has great people. James W.

Romantic Anniversary Getaway!

This was our 3rd stay at the James Manning House. My husband and I come to celebrate our anniversary each year(next year is on the books!) . Whenever we travel we stay at Bed and Breakfasts and this is by far the best we have been to. Janet and Warren are the nicest people- warm accommodating and gracious hosts! They handle special requests with ease and have struck the perfect balance between chatting with guests and respecting guests privacy. They clearly enjoy owning and running their Bed and breakfast and their passion shows! No detail is overlooked here and special touches are everywhere. The house and grounds are always beautifully decorated in every nook and cranny for the season, it is meticulously clean –but also very cozy and homey throughout the entire house, to us it feels like coming home. As far as the food- the breakfast menu is creative and the dishes served are filling and delicious with many ingredients from their own garden. If you go away hungry its your own fault!! Fresh baked treats ,beverages and other snacks are available anytime which is a very nice touch. Also be sure to check out Janet’s homemade jams. We always take several jars with us and enjoy seeing what new flavors she has come up with each year. We treasure our time at this BnB each year and would highly recommend
