Description
Circa 1893. Irving House is located in a historic, turn-of-the-century Colonial Revival and has been receiving guests since the 1940s. The simple, comfortable rooms feature a modern hotel decor, and more than half include a private bath. In the mornings, a continental buffet with fruit, pastries and cereals is set up for guests to enjoy. Harvard Square is just minutes away, and guests can walk to the Red Line stop that goes into Boston.

Romantic
It's my first time in U.S., but I liked very much the location, near Harvard University. The rooms are very good! I recommend it to everyone thats enjoy a nice familiar environment.

a great find!
I have stayed at Irving House over the years as often as possible. The staff go way above and beyond, to create a warm, cozy, friendly atmosphere in a spotlessly clean and charming inn with many amenities like large breakfast. I can't recommend Irving House highly enough--but clearly I am not alone, judging by its perennial popularity.

More like a rooming house
Irving House is clean and the continental breakfast okay, but it is a very bare-bones, stripped down small hotel, not really a bed and breakfast in the usual sense. I stayed in a single room on Oct. 3, 2007, and it was very stark, clean, with a large desk but little else to recommend it. Stay here only if you can't find a better place.
