Historic Interest

Designed by Utah State Capitol architects Hedlund & Wood, the Inn on the Hill was built in 1906 for retired physician and surgeon Edward D. Woodruff and his family. The 26-room mansion, built in the architectural style of the Second Renaissance Revival, features an interior fashioned after an English Manor, with extensive hand painting by local artist William Culmer. Leather covered walls, oriental rugs, Maxfield Parrish Tiffany glass, hand carved hardwoods and a Grand Staircase are just a few of the things that demonstrate the craftsmanship and beauty of the home. Known as the Woodruff-Riter Mansion, it was listed on the National Historic Register on July 26th, 1979. The McCarthey family acquired the property in December of 2003. As with all of the McCarthey properties, exquisite design, quality furnishings and an exceptional staff was the first order of business. The family continues its operation today as an upscale Bed and Breakfast, Inn on the Hill.

Saltair

All other hotels were booked so I tried a bed and breakfast website and found your Inn. So happy that I came across Inn on the Hill. All of the staff (including the Chef) were kind and respectable and fast to service. Enjoyed the hot breakfast and the complimentary food/snacks and drinks. Received a complimentary upgrade upon arrival which was very much appreciated.
