“This is the perfect getaway”
Sue MWilliamsburg , VA
We have to the In At Warner Hall twice. Both times it was a wonderful experience with gracious and caring staff. The rooms a beautiful and comfortable. The views of the river from the boathouse were perfect on a rainy afternoon. The dining experienc is exceptional.

“Fantastic Honeymoon!”
Alison EEverything was absolutely fantastic at the Inn at Warner Hall. We spent 3 nights in one room and the switched to the larger room with the jacuzzi tub the last night. The breakfast was great with two choices every morning. Our first morning I was so upset when we slept through breakfast but they very nicely made us something anyways. The boat house was very nice and although it was too hot and humid to go out and enjoy it much, the dinner basket we had there was also very tasty. Our only complaint was that we could not stay longer since the inn was booked for a wedding. The owners and the inn keepers were very helpful finding near by places to eat, but be prepared to drive a bit, but the seclusion was a part of the retreat and we were never bored or felt isolated. Overall, I give the inn the highest recommendation.

“Peace and Quiet”
Susan IColorado Springs, CO
The Inn was our last stop on a two-week tour of the southeast. I don't know how best to describe it except to say that this is a place that is good for your soul. It is beautiful, certainly. The food is fabulous. The inkeepers are friendly and accomodating. But what makes this inn so special is the utter restfulness. Sit on the front veranda and read a book. Sit down by the river and watch the world go buy. Nap on the couch in the parlor. If your soul needs restoration, this is the place to find it.

My husband and I were married at Warner Hall and let me tell you there is no better place on earth to be married. From the atmosphere to the staff to the food Warner Hall truly is a GEM. They are so accomadating and it truly is one of the most romantic places we have been. It is very quiet and has a beautiful veiw over the water. The rooms are all very elegant and we had a wonderful time. Everyone has told us how beautiful of a place it was and all of our friends fell in love.

When my (now) husband booked our room at Warner Hall in 2006, he mentioned to the Innkeepers he was going to propose to me there. The Innkeepers immediately upgraded our room, helped him arrange for flowers and champagne to be delivered, and the proposal itself. They bent over backwards to create the perfect engagement weekend and we have been back about once a year since to commemorate. It has a wonderful Welcome Home feel, mixed with elegant romance.

“Romance in the 36th year”
Steven DCharleston, SC
8/20/2010
In our 36th year of marriage, 4 kids and 5 grandkids, romance can be a tricky commodity to find. However, Warner Hall truly fit that bill. Everything about our stay echoed romance from our room, Jaccuzi, fire place, dining, et al. The owners themselves made us feel as if we were a part of their family. Coming from Charleston, SC and our Lowcountry that has several plantations around every corner, Warner Hall certainly rose to the challenge.

We were married at Warner Hall in 2003 and have celebrated several anniversaries there. The innkeepers are amazing, always making sure you have everything needed. The grounds are beautiful, peaceful and relaxing. We searched for a romantic unforgettable location for our wedding reception and knew as soon as we turned down the drive we had found it. I am anxious to return!

Warner Hall has all the ingredients for a romantic get away which is why we have chosen it for our last three anniversaries. We hope to return for a fourth.
The ambiance in both the public rooms and the guest rooms is superb with lovely but comfortable antiques. The views of the water and the grounds are restful with Nature at Her prettiest.
The staff is discreetly available. Should you favor a picnic to take to the Inn's pier for a supper at sunset---they can do that. There is a full kitchen for guests that is easily accessible at any time. You can raid the frig: maybe some fresh fruit or a bit of cheese.
We have never been disappointed.

My wife & i were married at Warner Hall about 5 years ago and have returned as often as possible ever since. Tis is a very special place where you can be active outside if you wish or can cuddle up together in luxurious comfort. The rooms are large, the baths are modern and roomy, and the beds are comfy. The common areas are spectacular and beautifully maintained. The food is great and the wine list is varied. The owners are helpful and freindly. In short this is a great place for that special weekend and all at a remarkably affordable price.

“My Dad's 70th Birthday Party”
Sandi HSpotsylvania, VA
8/16/2010
We were one of the first families to experience the newly reconditioned Inn when it first reopened nearly 5 years ago. My Mom planned a lovely surprise birthday party for my Dad's 70th. The caretakers were amazingly wonderful! We entertained as though it were "our house and it couldn't have been nicer. The food was delicious and breakfast the next day a lovely experience. Older friends stayed at the Inn and just exclaimed over how romantic it was; especially the room with the Jaccuzzi tub!
I have been to other B&B's, but I cannot think of one in this area that is nicer or more romantic. We are hoping to have my son's engagement party there because we know that his bride to be will love it!

“Crown Royal wedding gets my VOte”
Richard MManasquan, NJ
8/15/2010
I recently attended a wedding staying at the "Inn" where it was held. There was a reception the night before held at at another venue. They did not serve my favorite drink (Seagrams VO and coke). Back at the "Inn", I settled for a night-cap of "Royal Crown" and coke and hoped I might purchase some "VO" the next day. When I asked the prorietor where I could purchase some, she said "not to worry" she would make sure I had my favorite drink for the wedding that afternoon. True to her word, I was able to enjoy the festivities that much more thanks to her genuine southern hospitality. This was the icing on the cake after a most sumptuous gourmet breakfast, a romantic walk along the river, a sleep in a fairytale suite, and a wedding celebration I will never forget.

The most romantic inn we've ever stayed in. Although the house was rebuilt at the turn of the century it is on a waterfront colonial plantation very close to Jamestown and Williamsburg. “Memorable Birthday Celebration”
Sherry U8/14/2010
My husband and I were introduced to Warner Hall by friends. We returned there for a beautiful fall weekend. Last November we rented a limosine and drove our friends there for my husbands surprize birthday party. It was an amazing night. Delicious horderves were served in the parlor. Then an elegant dinner. We stayed on the third floor. Warner Hall is AMAZING! I marvel every time I visit this place. The owners do a superb job in every aspect. We have told all of our friends and cannot wait to visit again.

Belvin LWicomico, VA

After several intimate retreats to WH to enjoy dinner and wine with friends, we decided to host our daughters wedding at WH in 2005. We came to know Theresa and Troy well, and we value their contributions to the Gloucester community and hospitable devotion to their guests with each and every stay. Recently, my wife and I enjoyed a weekend get-away at WH over a Friday the 13th weekend which we celebrate often as our first date anniversary. Theresa, as always, was a consumate hostess, as we enjoyed our romantic anniversary get away with superb accomodations including bed, steam shower, and breakfast. We thoroughly enjoy WH and recommend romantic get aways to our friends in this ideal location known as "the land of life worth living".

“The Romantic's Perfect Getaway”
Joyce B1/28/2009
I was fortunate enough to spend the weekend at Warner Hall in November 2008. I knew it would be wonderful, but all of my expectations were "super-exceeded"! I had never driven up to the inn after dark...that was my first grand surprise. The lighting on this magnificent mansion made the drive up to it most exciting. Upon entering, I was greeted with warmth and all the charm of colonial grandeur had "come to life". Almost all the food was a 10. The crabcakes were a 10+. (nothing but lump). The staff was professional and courteous, the setting is rural, quiet, and romantic with expansive water and pasture views. Each guest room has its own personal charm and warm grandiosity. Some have hot tubs, some have fireplaces, some have both... adding special appeal to the romantist at heart. And elegant breakfast gives the guest something special to look forward to the next morning before exploring the grounds.

My husband and I were able to get away and enjoy this wonderful retreat from our home near Washington, DC. The Inn is set in a countryside of quiet, gently rolling fields, down a long drive - and then a magnificent restored gem. My husband likes to eat and had a great time, and I was thrilled to be in a place that seemed so idyllic and romantic that it was breathtaking and inspiring. Romantic is an understatement based on my time there. Theresa and Troy Stavens are the hosts and owners; wonderful people who perform magic in their concern for guests. We enjoyed a dinner basket at the water's edge and watched the sun set. Inspirational and most enjoyable. I recommend the Inn at Warner Hall for a restful weekend, but especially for one filled with romance! The rooms are done with impeccable taste and comfort. The sound of morning birds was beautiful and the dogs! They have the cutest dogs, beagles, who are part of the Inn experience. Other guests were as impressed as I. I heard about the Inn from Select Registry - they got it right, but I think it's far better than even their glowing recommendation. So, as a reviewer, I'm happy to spread the word.

K F1/21/2009
One of my cousins had her marriage at the Inn at Warner Hall so I got to stay and enjoy the charm, romace and luxury! My cousin was thrilled by the elegence of the Inn and, of course by the occasion! The event went off smoothly. The pictures are to die for! What a place. Inside, the Inn is a piece of history with overwhelimg romantic inspiration. Outisde, walking to the boat house for a moment of quiet reflection, the inspiration of the colors and peace of the lapping waters was a stroll into another time. Then back to a great party!! Highly recommended for the great food, charm, and the inspiration of what my Italian friends call Romanza! The rooms are rated Wow! Double Wow!

I recently attended The Battle of the Hook (the true "last" battle of the
American Revolution)and was blown away, not only by the cannon fire, but by the incredible atmosphere at Warner Hall. I was lucky enough to be sleeping indoors at the Inn, but greatly enjoyed wandering through the American, French, German and British encampments, populated by enthusiastic re-enactors. The sight of row after row of tents, the wonderful scent of hundreds of individual campfires, the songfests, and shared grog - made for a very memorable and romantic weekend. Theresa and Troy handled every detail beautifully, and the Officers' Ball in the mansion, with everyone in period dress, truly brought an era back to life. I'm heading back there soon for the whole 21st century experience! Serene grounds, beautiful house, superb service, delicous food, and wonderful company - who could ask for more for a romantic weekend!

The grounds, the house, the innkeepers, the staff, the chef are all wonderful at Warner Hall. The venue is beautiful, the hospitality genuine, and the attention to detail remarkable. The food is delicious, too! It is wonderful to have dinner here. Even the box lunches are excellent and breakfasts are delicious. A romantic afternoon or evening stroll can take you to the boathouse for more privacy. The rooms offer a fine and very comfortable place to be together in luxury. I liked it so much at Warner Hall when I visited with my sister and niece that I absolutely had to bring my husband with me the next time. He loved it, too!

The Inn at Warner Hall has everything to offer, being located in the heart of colonial Virginia. Troy and Theresa have given great attention to detail for that historic colonial connection. From weddings to special events to just a romantic getaway for a couple looking to savor the history of George Washington’s family history, the Inn at Warner Hall has it all. When visiting Colonial Yorktown and Williamsburg, Warner Hall is a must for your list of places to visit. And trust me, once you visit, you’ll want to come back time and time again.

Warner Hall is a beautiful, restored plantation home with historically appointed rooms and fully modern bathrooms (in each room). The owners are a perfect balance of available but unintrusive. The food is wonderful - a 5 star breakfast for sure. Plenty of activities if you would like to relax and spend a family or romantic weekend just at Warner Hall, but also a pleasant oasis if you are visiting Williamsburg/Yorktown/etc. My husband and I were married there in April 2008, and I have not one complaint. Everything was perfect. Warner Hall is truly a class act.

“Wonderful Celebratory Setting”
Aileen KNew York, NY
1/19/2009
I have attended two weddings at the Inn at Warner Hall. If I were to get married again or to plan a wedding, I would want it to be at Warner Hall. Both wedding celebrations were beautiful, with every detail so carefully attended to. The setting is lovely - romantic, historic, filled with light, beautifully appointed. Everywhere you look, either inside or out there is something wonderful to catch your eye.
The fall wedding was warm enough for us to gather out on the lawn during the reception. The winter wedding, with holiday decorations mixed with bridal flowers was spectacular. We wondered why the bride and groom chose the weekend before Christmas for a 'destination' wedding, but once we were there we would not have wanted to be any other place.
We have had occasion to visit and stay at Warner Hall several other times. Theresa and Troy Stavens are so gracious and made us feel so welcome. The rooms are beautifully furnished. The food is delicious, whether for a wedding banquet or a weekend breakfast.
I have told many of my friends to consider Warner Hall for a weekend away just for the experience of being there.

It's easy to fall in love with the Inn at Warner Hall.
My husband and I were married at the Inn at Warner Hall in 2003, shortly after it opened and we keep coming back!
The property is heavenly, and it's easy to see why George Washington's grandparents chose to make this their home. Troy and Theresa, the innkeepers, and the rest of their talented staff always make us feel like Warner Hall is our home away from home.
And the icing on the cake - the food is phenomenal, as is the wine list!

We have been frequent visitors to Warner Hall. Each or our visits has surpassed the one before. The Inn at Warner Hall is decorated impeccably yet it has all the comforts of home. The tranquil setting of the Inn is punctuated by the picturesque views of the Severn River. The Inns' hosts, Theresa and Troy are purveyors of true southern hospitality. Chef Eric Garcia rounds out the stay with exceptional cuisine. The Stavens and their staff strive to provide all their guest with a memorable experience. Truly a treat to stay in this little piece of history.

“My Romantic Stay at Warner Hall”
Paul TEureka Springs, AR
1/18/2009
***** This place is amazing!*****
The rooms, furnishings, wall hangings,(I really liked the note signed by R Lee)and overall Romantic, Historical ambience dramatically exceeded our expectations. It really was like stepping back in time, yet we enjoyed all the modern luxuries....Lounging in the hot tub, looking over the water...as the sun set. Wonderfully romantic......
The luxury of freedom to roam the property once walked upon by George Washingtons ancestors.. Bicycles were a great touch.
.Excellent service as well .....I'll bet
George never ate that well............

“Romance at 90”
robert knewport news, VA
1/18/2009
My Mom and Dad have been life long partners for over 68 years. When the family looked for "that special place" to bring family and friends together to celebrate Moms 90th B'Day and their loving relationship, the 'Inn at Warner Hall' was the hands down choice. There is just no other place that offers the warm, loving, and historic atmosphere that Warner Hall provides. The period accommodations, exquisite cuisine, and superb, attentive staff were truly five-star. I cannot envision a more loving and romantic atmosphere than that at Warner Hall.

“Romance Personified”
Steve H1/18/2009
This is truly a special place to relax and unwind. Innkeepers Troy and Theresa Stavens provide excellent personalized service, yet know how to give guests their alone time. The food and ambiance are first rate, and the property have been restored and updated with great attention to detail. One of our favorite places to get away, yet only about 40 minutes from Colonial Williamsburg.

“Rained out wedding still romantic”
Anne R1/18/2009
The Stavens are cool under pressure... barometric pressure that is. Having been a guest at several weddings at the Inn, my husband and I chose Warner Hall as our wedding site for the beautiful and expansive grounds, the meticulous yet comfortable decor, but most especially the for relaxed atmosphere that reserving the Inn for the weekend afforded our guests and us. The day of our wedding it poured! The ceremony (including a family heirloom Chuppah), big band and dance floor had to be relocated inside. The staff at the Inn managed to do this in such a seamless and lovely way that one would never suspect our plans had ever been otherwise. In the end, I think that the confines of the Inn actually lent a more intimate and romantic feeling to our wedding. I would not change a thing!

“Romantic Recharge”
Meg CBena, VA
1/18/2009
Warner Hall is a the place my husband and I go when our relationship needs to be recharged and remember the romance between us. We are a typical busy family, I have a job or two, he travels away for two weeks at a time and we have to active boys thirteen and nine years old. Like most folks we forget to be good to one another and the Inn at Warner Hall helps us remember. The rooms are beautifully appointed each with a private bath. Some bathrooms have tubs big enough for 2! The photos and albums of the weddings the Inn hosts reminds us of our wedding. The staff is attentive but not invasive. Dinner from Chef Eric is the icing on the cake. I absolutely recommend Warner Hall for a romantic relationship R+R (recharge and remember).

The Inn at Warner Hall seems like the perfect place for several occasions; weekend getaways, weddings, receptions, vacations, etc. The service is remarkable and the Inn is incredibly comfortable with a relaxed, home-y feeling. No complaints at all! Would love to go back, it's a great break from the real world, in the middle of Virginia!

“Wonderful Quiet Weekend Getaway”
Charlotte LRichmond, VA
1/18/2009
As we turned onto the rural back road, we wondered what could possibly be waiting at the end of the winding, tree lined lane. We passed the white fence and turned into the drive, and the grandeur of the large home in front of us literally took our breath away. We felt immediately comfortable as we entered the house and were greeted by the warm staff and owners and especially the beagles in residence, Coco and Maxie.
Our romantic weekend stay was all we had hoped it would be. The room was beautiful with a gas fireplace that was kept burning the entire weekend. The staff was attentive and always on hand to answer a question, get whatever we needed or give directions to our destination for the day. Dinner in the main dining room on Saturday night was a delicious five course event created by the resident chef. We had coffee and dessert in the drawing room in front of the fire with several other couples that were also staying for the weekend.
We have highly recommended the Inn at Warner Hall to all of our friends and will definitely be booking a return visit.

“Battle of the Hook - A Great Event”
Diane L1/18/2009
Recently we spend a terrific weekend at Warner Hall for the experience of a lifetime. We watched the Battle of the Hook reenactment on the grounds of this lovely historic Inn. On Saturday night we were invited to a dinner to honor the reenactors. The chef prepared what can only be described as the most wonderful dinner. It was a perfect end to a cool October day and we could not have been happier. While we did not stay the night at the Inn, from what we did see of friend’s rooms and input, you could not go wrong spending a weekend in Gloucester at Warner Hall.

InnSide Tip - Dont miss the afternoon cookies
In the afternoon, the chef bakes the most amazing chocolate chip cookies you have ever encountered. As you grab one on the way out the door to wander the grounds, they literally melt in your mouth, still warm from the oven. Within the hour, you find yourself on the back porch, slowly falling into to a wonderful little sugar coma. It is pure pleasure.

“Historical Heaven!!”
Betty MOvando, MT
1/18/2009
My husband and I attended a wedding during the Christmas holidays at the Inn at Warner Hall. What a delightful time we had, and what a romantic place to stay (even for a couple who has been married over 40 years). The romance of the history of the inn made you wish that walls could talk! We were always surprised and engaged by the wonderful service, the delicious meals, and the "personal" touches that Theresa and Troy (the innkeepers) quietly present to their guests. The intimacy of the location, the decor of the rooms, and the surrounding countryside makes for a romantic getaway for young and old alike. I think George Washington's family would be delighted to see the love and care the present innkeepers have brought back to Warner Hall. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and look forward to another visit as soon as possible.

“Dream Wedding”
Jennifer F1/18/2009
I couldn't have asked for a better Christmas wedding than the one at Warner Hall. It was a bride's dream come true. The innkeepers seemed to know exactly what I wished for and I had no "wedding nightmares". The food was exquisite, the decor was absolutely amazing and every detail was thought through down to the centerpieces in the dining room. I tell all of my friends that if they don't have their wedding there, at least stop by for their honeymoon or a romantic weekend. Its a little slice of heaven and the people who run it just put the cherry on top!

“Best Getaway”
John F1/18/2009
If I were to daydream today about a romantic gateway with my wife, Warner Hall would be it. It has everything we wanted and even things we didn’t know we wanted: the period décor, the expansive grounds, remote controlled fireplace, fabulous breakfast, a sauna steam shower, incredible views, friendly dogs, and innkeepers who helped to make our stay great. I was made to feel at home and able to just relax and spend some time together with my wife.

“Intimate & Romantic!”
Jim PNew Canaan, CT
1/18/2009
The Inn at Warner Hall takes you 350 years back in time - and creates a very intimate and romantic ambience. We stayed at the Inn for our anniversary and had a wonderful time! We stayed in “Austin’s Desire”, a beautifully decorated, spacious, extremely comfortable retreat at the top of the mansion, with views in all directions. The house was so welcoming – and it felt like all of it was ours! We relaxed in front of a roaring fire in the living room, enjoyed complimentary coffee, sodas and snacks from the Coffee Bar at any hour of the day or night (where we could also sneak a peek at our email on the guest computer!), ate delicious breakfasts and dinner on the River Porch and in the dining room, and strolled the grounds, walking down to the Boathouse, and over to the 17th/18th century graveyard. We had a marvelous weekend at the Inn and look forward to returning soon!

“Let the romantic honeymoon begin!”
Julie C1/18/2009
Not a flood, hurricane or threat of rain could dampen our wedding experience, because we chose Inn at Warner Hall for our destination wedding. Our guests traveled from all of the states and many have returned for romantic weekends. The food is fabulous, the setting grand and the owners/staff leave nothing to chance. You feel pampered not hassled and can always choose between being social or alone. Weddings can be stressful, ours was so much fun we almost felt the honeymoon began before we left the Inn!

In June my husband and I had the most romantic, wonderful wedding at Warner Hall. Troy and Theresa Stavens made sure our special day was perfect. Our guests said that they have never been to such a romantic wedding before. Some of our guests had the opportunity to spend the entire weekend at the Inn and are still raving about it!

“Romantic Wedding Setting!”
Cathy P (2 reviews)
New Canaan, CT
1/18/2009
The Inn at Warner Hall welcomed us from the moment we approached it. White fences enclosed pastures on either side of the drive, stables and outbuildings came into view, the river glistened in the distance, and the beautiful plantation house beckoned. My husband and I recently attended a wedding at the Inn and were enchanted by the experience! We stayed in the Washington Suite, a huge, gorgeous room with views of both the fields in front of the house and the river behind it. Our room was beautifully decorated with period antiques yet was exquisitely comfortable. We had our own fireplace and sitting area, a king-size bed with the most restful mattress we’ve ever slept on, a gorgeous bathroom with a large shower and a two-person whirlpool tub - and our very own private entrance! Very intimate, very personal … very, very romantic! The Inn was “home” to the wedding party and guests for the entire weekend, and that made the wedding incredibly special. We enjoyed cocktails in the Map Room before dinner, lounged in the living room for hours afterwards as we caught up with family and friends, bonded again over leisurely breakfasts on the River Porch, danced all night at the wedding, and enjoyed a private stroll down to the Boathouse where we stargazed and remembered why we love each other. The Innkeepers have perfected romance! Everything about the weekend was superb - the ambience of the beautiful house and grounds, the delicious food, and the innkeepers’ expert attention to every detail! We will definitely visit again, and highly recommend the Inn at Warner Hall.

“A Romantic and Historic Inn”
Caroline FHayes,

I have visited the Inn at Warner Hall several times over the past 4 years. It is my favorite B&B in the mid-atlantic region of the U.S. I love its history and its easy access to surrounding historic sites and to the waters of the Chesapeake Bay.
The rooms are spacious, light, and furnished with beautiful antiques. The bed and bath linens are luxurious. Amenities include boats and bicycles, picnics and moonlit dinners, delicious food, and massage therapy for couples.
The staff is friendly and anxious to please. The owners, Theresa and Troy Stavens are knowledgeable, experienced, and professional.

“Another world - Warner Hall”
Patrick FWashington, DC
1/18/2009
Having traveled a great deal, what a pleasure it was to attend a wedding as a guest at Warner Hall! The location is so private, but not far from DC and next to Williamburg. The wedding was a knockout! Romantic doesn't just capture it. The grounds, Inn, dining, and staff all added up - stunning! Unique. A gem that I didn't know existed. The married couple from that wedding still prize Warner Hall and their moment. Candlelight, sunset colors on the inlet water, the smell of newly cut grass - all added to the beauty of that wedding in that remarkable, restored Virginia mansion. Time stopped. Yes, I have been back. And again. The rooms are in keeping with the spirit of the wedding I described - elegant. Recommended without any hesitation especially if you enjoy meals prepared by a great chef, and the time to sit by their boathouse, look at the stars, and turn off that Blackberry.

“beautiful, private & historic”
Pamela PBoston, MA

the inn at warner hall is an absolutely ideal location for a romantic weekend, small-to-medium sized wedding, or just a getaway week or weekend retreat. the historical location, the cozy feeling and decor, and the attention to detail of the inn keepers is second to none.
i enjoyed a weekend in the Robert E. Lee suite, sharing the room with my sister. we had a great time kayaking on the river and relaxing in the boathouse, going to the beach at nearby yorktown and even getting to Busch Gardens for an afternoon. it all culminated with a gorgeous outdoor wedding ceremony with the sun setting over the Severn river. what makes it such a great location is that you can have the ceremony as well as a wonderful reception at the same great place. the food was perfect, both at the wedding itself and for the morning-after brunch.
theresa & troy will do anything to make your stay perfect - covering everything from the lavish bath&body products in each room to their flexibility in planning any event. case in point was that the wedding ceremony was threatened by some ominous clouds all day, with a little bit of rain coming just half an hour before the wedding was set to start. they made sure no one was concerned - at the drop of the hat they were prepared to move the entire ceremony inside, which actually would have been very majecstic in front of the main staircase. however, the skies cleared and everything went off without a hitch, outside.
i will be back again, i am sure, and would recommend the inn at warner hall to anyone.
