Circa 1862. Sitting on a bluff in a quaint landmark town, this historic rural home is listed in the National Register. Built in 1862, the brick Neo-Georgian farmhouse boasts English country gardens and a wonderful view of the Sierra Foothills. Enjoy welcome refreshments and beverages. Join the innkeepers for dessert in one of the parlors by the fire. Listen to the pump organ or piano, browse the artifacts, books and games. Sleep in a cherry spool, wrought iron or four-poster pine bed in a guest bedroom in the Main House; some feature clawfoot tubs and fireplaces. Indulge in the fabulous three-room Water Tower Suite with a separate entrance and deck, spiral staircase, clawfoot tub and wrought iron canopy bed. Linger over a gourmet breakfast with a changing menu in the sunny carriageway.

Whether it's the third story of the Water Tower Suite, the second level deck, the spacious piazza, rose garden, a parlor, your bedroom with the fireplace, or under the canopy of the 400-year-old Blue Oak you'll will find "your place". Historic Interest

This is the home of pioneer doctor and businessman Dr. Dean Jewett Locke, benefactor and founder of the town. It is also home of his descendant John Willard Thorpe, noted aeronautical engineer and designer. The barn served as headquarters for the Mokelumne Light Dragoons during the Civil War. Antiques and artifacts of these notables are integrated into the decor of the inn.
