Description

Circa 1727. Five beautifully restored historic inns comprise Paul Pearson's Historic Inns of Annapolis: Robert Johnson House, State House, Maryland Inn and the Governor Calvert House. The Tavern, for instance, took seven years to restore. During that time, workers confirmed local legends that the tavern was once a center for smuggling and included a network of tunnels extending to the Annapolis waterfront. Architectural styles include Victorian, Georgian and Colonial with furnishings of the same period. (The Maryland Inn has been in continuous operation for more than 200 years.) There is also a new hotel attached to the State House.
