Traveler's Rest in Montezuma, Georga has always had an avid following from its guests so it was fun to read this comment about Adele's dinner offerings and the guests who totally trust her selections for thelm.

J. Kurtz wrote about his recent stay,  "This is the 2nd time my wife and I have stayed at the Traveler's Rest B&B in Montezuma, GA. Now as a man I appreciate the clean and comfortable rooms, but what I really love is innkeeper Adele's personality and her cooking! Adele brings a depth of international flavor to both her ocnversation and cooking. Both times we have stayed we have chosen the dinner option and both times we have let Adele make whatever she felt inspired to make. And both times we were richly rewarded wit great meals, and I consider myself a pretty good gourmet cook. We wil stay at Traveler's Rest again!"

Consider asking your innkeeper to provide private dining for you if you note - they have a cookbook, gorgeous food shots on their website, offer cooking classes to guests or if they write about food in an innkeeper blog. You will feel like royalty and will still be talking about it years from now!

900 Inns Offer Free Rooms to Vets

More than 900 inns are participating in the WVBBA program B&Bs For Vets launching Nov. 10th   The 900 inns, representing 2700 free rooms donated,  are the founding inns of the brand new program started this past summer by Kathleen Panek, innkeeper of Gillum House in W.V.

A plethora of publicity has materialized and some inns reported having their rooms claimed within 3 days of joining the program. At an average of $125 per room, this represents over $325,000.00 of revenue donated to active members of the military or veterans who served previously. Most of the inns are already planning to repeat the program in 2011.

One of the earlierst responses Panek received about the program was:  Ms. Panek,    "Thank you for your thoughtful gift to veterans on Veterans Day.  My wife and I usually stay in pretty upscale hotels when we travel, but because of your kindness to my fellow veterans, we are going to start looking at B&B's.  I hope many people do."

The overwhelming response from the military and veterans was, "thank you for thinking of us."

Bed & Breakfast Coupons

We have thousands of fans of the guidebook, Bed & Breakfast and Country Inns  - now in its 22nd edition, who have purchased more than 2 1/2 million copies and enjoyed the Free Night coupon carried inside. The book is filled with historic inns, lodges, country estates, urban inns, farmhouses and B&Bs of every shape, architectural style and size. Here's a comment received this week from a frequent user.

"We have bought the American Historic Inns, Bed and Breakfast and Country Inns books for the past 10 years - possibly longer. We just love them and have gotten a few of our friends hooked on them also. We have visited many states we wouldn't have without the free night certificate and it makes a great getaway with friends more enjoyable not having to worry about paying for a second night or where to go for breakfast. We have met many interesting people at the different inns we have stayed in and look forward to many more years of touring the US with our B&B books."
Pat Johnson,St. Louis, MO

The book may be found on Amazon or iLoveInns.com, the American Historic Inn website. .

Gandi'sHome to Become B&B in Johannesburg

The house where Gandhi developed the concept of satyagraha a century ago is being restored, expanded and transformed into a unique B&B - a haven of peace in a busy Joburg suburb. The house was bought by Voyageurs du Monde, a French travel company, in September 2009, and the new owner intends turning the renamed Satyagraha House into "a unique project never accomplished anywhere in the world", according to Fabrice Dabouineau, the group's Africa director. It will be a bed and breakfast, where people will be able to explore Gandhi's principles.

Designed by the architect Hermann Kallenbach - Gandhi's great friend and supporter - it was called The Kraal because it combined African elements in a European dwelling, The men shared the two rondavels on and off between 1908 and 1911.  See article by Loraine Kearney
