Dogsledding, Too

Bayview Terrace Inn also offers a Dogsledding Adventure. Here's their special. "Do something different this winter. If you can't go south! Go north! Northern Michigan.  Petoskey to be exact. Stay in our cozy Inn for two nights and have the experience of a lifetime. Friday meet the trainer and dogs for a welcome reception, Saturday is spent outdoors with the dogs and sleds, where you will ride and drive the team.  Saturday evening we host a wonderful dinner, and Sunday send you off with a hardy "biscuits and gravy" breakfast. Bring your winter gear and be prepared for fun. $359 plus tax!

Sounds like a great Valentine's plan - just wear red and take tons of photos. They'll be treasured for decades.

Joe S. reported in a review posted on that there's a wooden dance floor at The Terrace Inn in Petoskey. Here's what he wrote:

"Dancing at Breakfast"

We thoroughly enjoy staying at The Terrace Inn, a Bed and Breakfast in Bayview (Petoskey) Michigan. We visit at least twice a year and are treated very warmly with excellent service and accommodations, especially breakfast in the elegant Victorian dining room with a beautiful wooden "dance" floor - yes, we swing dance and waltz at breakfast time. Joe. S.

Would you stay again? YES

"You have collected the most wonderful inns at a price I can afford and the history I love."  This was the  music that floated to our ears the other day when we received a call from Rick Bush, a Bed & Breakfast fan who has been using the iLoveInns website and B&B book for several years. It all started when he had an engineering project out of town and found a wonderful little inn in the Buy-One-Night-Get-the-Second-Night Free program. Ever since then when he travels for business he is committed to finding an B&B for his stay.

"Your B&Bs are so cool. I've been staying at these for my work projects and have been to such great places with so much history. The innkeepers go out of their way to make sure I get to experience their area, such as lending me a kayak, pointing out what I should not miss. I have a fabulous time and feel sorry for the other engineers staying elsewhere!" As Rick spoke, the joy was evident in his voice and it reminded me why we have been collecting America's greatest little inns on our site - so that we can give our readers the very best experiences when they travel.

Canandaigua, NY

We received this special posted today for an inn in Canandaigua, NY that reflects the many specials and packages that inns have been offering lately.

"Recession Buster!!! 1840 Inn on the Main,  Buy One - Get One 1/2 Off Everybody is feeling the crunch of the economy.  Beat the Recession with savings that let you stay longer for
less! Book 1 night (Sun.-Thur. only) and receive 2nd night (Sun.-Thur. only) 1/2 off.  YES, that's savings of up to $105, depending on room choice, on a 2-night stay!"

1400 more inns and bed and breakfasts offer a similar special every week right now. These are the bed and breakfasts featured in our book that includes a Buy-One-Get-One Free Night certificate. You pay the first night and stay free the second night. You can find these when you are looking up locations by spotting the FN icon on the city pages of our site.

The Joy of B&Bs

We never cease to be amazed at the joy in the voices of those callling into our office to order our Bed & Breakfast books. The stories they tell have so much energy as they relate their last trip or their 18 days of "inn-ing" or  how pleased their friend was to get the book with the free night certificate inside. My favorite call this week was the woman who had ordered 18 books for herself and her husband last year. They used all but one for themselves and maintained that every inn they visited was absolutely fantastic. They had already ordered this year's book but needed  four more. All her friends look to her to help them find the best B&Bs because she always comes back home so excited about her trips and always has our latest book.

Here's what people have been saying about the B&B book, free night certificate and gift cards:

It's Not "Stuff"
"We gave the certificate to my parents and they really enjoyed their stay!  Plus, they appreciated that we gave them an experience to share together as opposed to another thing with which to fill up the garage! Downloading the gift certificate was super easy!!"  Eve Taylor, New Jersey
For the Hard to Please
"The person to whom I gave the book along with the gift card really appreciated them!  This is a person who takes a lot to please.  She thought it was a great idea.  Of course, her reaction to the gift greatly pleased me!! She was going to use it for her anniversary." Mary Randolf, Alsip, Illinois
To Bless Adult Children
"We give this EVERY year to our four adult children -  and then then we babysit so our kids can always have a little getaway every year." Charles P. Long Island, NY
