Circa 1865. The view from the tower, the warmth of the fireplace, the comfort of the canopy beds and the sway of the porch swing become favorite memories of guests who stay at this three-story Second Empire Victorian home. Joshua T. Waterman, railroad baron and mayor of the town in the mid-1800s, built the mansion, and he and his wife watched their 12 children grow up here. Today, guests seek out the same cozy nooks once enjoyed by the original family. In the morning, breakfasts of waffles, pancakes or French toast are served in the dining room before the fireplace. Nearby is The Daughter's of the American Revolution Museum, "Olana," a fireman's museum and many antique shops and galleries.
