About Our Rooms

Akala Manu

'Pink Bird ' in Hawaiian. With a handful of tasteful flamingo touches, this room honors our partners, Jay & Kathy, lovers of all things flamingo. You are sure to love this sumptuous room with its king sized bed, luxury linens and partial ocean view from its private lanai. A quiet place to relax and enjoy your view of our grounds and a partial ocean view. Your bathroom includes a river rock style floor with a hammered copper bathtub. The vanity is a Bali cabinet with a hammered copper sink. You'll truly enjoy stepping out to your private outdoor shower with its rock walls and custom carved stone showerhead.

Honu

Honu'Turtle' in Hawaiian. We love swimming with the giant sea turtles and we felt it fitting to name one of our suites after these gorgeous creatures. If you take advantage of the local snorkeling opportunities just minutes from Ho'oilo House, and have just a pinch of luck, you too may swim with the Honu. Each night you stay in this gorgeous room with its king-sized custom four poster wood bed we will make a donation to the Pacific Whale Foundation here on Maui. A favorite lanai among past guests you will surely enjoy the view and peaceful setting. The bathroom floor is an exquisite Blue Pearl granite with a matching custom Blue Pearl recessed tub featuring a carved stone head tub fill. The vanity is iron with a high gloss mahogany top and custom made-on-Maui glass sink. The bathroom also includes a beautiful mahogany linen cabinet with batik laminate. The outdoor shower with its black lava walls and carved stoneface showerhead is not to be missed.

Kipuka

'Oasis' in Hawaiian. This room will be your oasis on Maui -- surrounded by a gorgeous garden view and lush vegetation. It's one of our larger rooms, and you won't be able to beat the comfort of this king size custom Golden wood bed. You will enjoy this large lanai surrounded by gorgeous foliage and chirping birds. Your private bathroom includes a beautiful Crem marble floor with a custom recessed Crem marble bathtub. The vanity is a seashell stone with an integrated sink and tumbled Crem marble wall niches. You'll truly enjoy stepping out to your private outdoor shower with its Ivorystone walls and custom carved stone showerhead.

Kohola

'Whale' in Hawaiian. This ocean facing room with its queen size Chinese "Opium" Bed is a real treat. The bed looks out on the private lanai which faces the Pacific and neighboring island of Lanai offering a gorgeous view. During whale season from November to April, you may be lucky enough to do a little whale-watching from the privacy of your lanai. Each night you stay in this lovely room, we will make a donation to the Pacific Whale Foundation here on Maui. A private spot to enjoy your view and, oh my, that view. As you enter Kohola, you step onto the beautiful Sandstone tile floor, and walk towards the custom bathroom with its one-piece Ivorystone tub with a bamboo water spout. The matching vanity and raised sink are also Ivorystone. Stepping into the private outdoor shower with its Sandstone walls and bamboo showerhead, you'll be amazed at the unparalleled ocean view.

Nalu

'Wave' in Hawaiian. From your private lanai and your gorgeous antique queen size Chinese Wedding Bed, this ocean view room allows you to watch the Pacific, the boats and maybe a few whales as they jump and spray. A quiet spot to enjoy your view and, oh my, that view. As you walk into this room, you'll step onto the Toba marble floor, and straight ahead you'll find the custom one-piece seashell stone bathtub with matching vanity and sink. From there the outdoor shower with its Ivorystone walls and bamboo showerhead again offers unbelievable ocean views.

Wailele

Waterfall ' in Hawaiian. While you can't see any waterfalls in the surrounding garden and mountain view, there is an elusive waterfall within hiking distance in the mountains just behind Ho'oilo House. One of our larger rooms, you're sure to love the elegance of the queen size Chinese "Chow" Bed with its antique carved door panel which serves as a headboard. A quiet and peaceful private escape you will surely enjoy the lush garden views. The private bath has an exquisite Bali terracotta natural rock floor with a cast iron clawfoot tub. The vanity is made from one piece of coral Terrazzo with an integrated sink. The built-in shelves are Rose marble. For a truly tropical experience, step into your private outdoor shower with its black lava stone walls and carved stoneface showerhead.

Tropical Romantic Paradise

Ho'oilo House

In March of 2009, my boyfriend and I had the good fortune to stay a week at Ho'oilo House on Maui. Every detail of our stay was communicated with prompt, personal, polite e-mails from Dan and Amy, the owner/managers. When we arrived we found the house, our room and grounds to be unbelievably beautiful. From the moment we opened the pearl inlaid door to our room, we knew we would have a very romantic week in paradise. Our room had a soapstone soaking tub, an outdoor shower with an ocean view, and an antique Chinese bed overlooking our own private lanai. We had a yellow hibiscus by the door which bloomed all week and our very own coconut tree which dropped a fresh coconut. Dan even took his machete and opened the coconut for us so we could enjoy fresh coconut milk! I should also mention the wonderful fresh breakfast with fruit, yogurt, granola, and delicious homemade muffins and bread. The coffee was so good and guests could enjoy this morning feast in the Great Room, by the pool with it's lovely ocean view or in privacy on your lanai. The B&B has 6 rooms, and each is so private you feel like you are in your own little private romantic paradise retreat. We love Ho'oilo House. We want to go back soon, maybe this winter.

This is a spectacular Tahitian style home, that is a bed and breakfast. Mike and I stayed there for a week 11/08--- It sits above Lahiana Town with the mountains as its back drop and the view is an unobstructed view of the Pacific Ocean. Dan and Amy are the owners, they live on property in their private home, with orchard. Spectacular pool. Adults only, Three bedrooms on each side of the home, So at most there will only be 12 guests there at a time-- OH the outdoor showers------incredible--talk about romantic---taking an outdoor shower together while watching the sunset over the pacific ocean or under moonlight----OH BOY---unlike any experience--- We have plans of going back---- It's quiet-- The breakfasts's that Amy makes are fruits from her orchard---amoung other delicious items. So if you want privacy and away from the bustle of hotels---this is a very special place--if you want beach front and like sunbathing with many people--you would not like it here. The great room is so relaxing. The in-room wired music is great for setting a romantic mood! Check it out--I searched a very long time to find a private, special, classy place like this and finally found it!!!!

My husband and I have stayed at the Ho'oilo House every year for the past 3 years - we couldn't ask for a more amazing place to stay in Maui! The entire house is so romantic, yet comfortable and inviting - from the outdoor showers to the pool and common area. The location can't be beat either! Dan & Amy are super helpful and friendly. We can't wait to plan our next trip to the Ho'oilo House!

My hubby and I stayed at the Ho'oilo House a couple years ago and LOVED it! We felt like we were in a beautiful estate home and just loved the romantic views. It was so perfect and private and the rooms were just beautiful. The breakfast was fantastic and the house itself is simply amazing. I would highly recommend staying here! The location is great and it's nice to come home to a private getaway after being out exploring the island.

We absolutely loved the Ho'oilo house! We stayed for five nights for our 5th Anniversary for part of or Hawaiian vacation. We stayed in the Akala Manu room and it was beautiful. The bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was huge. The oversized bath tub was really nice, and the private lanai and outdoor area was beautiful. The best part of the room was of course the outdoor shower. It was so nice to get up in the morning, have the wonderful breakfast Amy cooked and take a nice peaceful shower and enjoy the mountain views. Breakfast had fresh fruit, fresh baked muffins, cereal, granola, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, bread for toast etc. Dan was very helpful in answering all of our questions about the island and giving us suggestions for places to go. We did a lot during the day, but would come back and relax in the afternoons for a few hours, and slept soundly every night because it was so quiet. The house and room itself was beautifully decorated and the views were amazing. You have the ocean one way and mountains the other. The grounds were beautiful as well, you felt like you were in a garden! They always had tea and coffee out and you felt right at home while you stayed. The pool was great as well - after a day in the heat and sun it was nice to come back and swim in the afternoons. Every time we came back there was no other guests in site, so you felt like you had the place to yourself. I can't wait to return for more relaxation again soon - it's only a few miles from the beach/shopping/restaurants and it's worth driving the few minutes to get to those places. With thousands of people staying at the big resorts it's hard to get the peace and quiet if that is what you are wanting. We are so glad we found this place and would stay there again and again!
