Wonderful Stay

I just had to e-mail you about the wonderful stay we had...I have never stayed at a B&B before..I was pleasantly surprised...fluffy towels were great as was the pillows on the bed, usually they are flat! I can assure you that we will be staying with you often.

Look forward to each return

I returned in September 2011 for a 4 night say. As I have stayed before, I knew I was getting exactly what fills my needs and expectations. Clean, comfortable, love the location, genuinely believe that Lori and Bob would do whatever it took to make someones stay the best it could be--although, I have never had a complaint. I love the pretty landscaping, the farm behind their inn, the lovely comforters in the room. Not being much of a breakfast person, the pastries and coffee is all I need. They also offer oatmeal, bagels, muffins, hot tea, etc. Only been home about 6 weeks, but already looking forward to my next trip--which can't come soon enough.

great stay...beautiful!

It has been just great staying in your beautiful B&B. Our room was like being at home and Bill really enjoyed the freshly baked treats (home usually means dry cereal!) God bless you on your journey in this life. We will be back and we will be sure to recommend your place.

like visiting friends

Visited from Worcestershire, England for 4 nights as part of a two week holiday at Easter 2011 having been to Minneapolis for a wedding and Washington DC . Lori and Bob could not do enough to ensure that our visit to Smoketown was relaxed but full of interesting places to visit and great places to eat. Room overlooked the Amish Farm which was fascinating, while not disturbing their Amish neighbour's privacy. Secluded, quiet but close to Lancaster and Strasburg. Weather was warm so able to sit on their patio to read surrounded by green fields and the meandering river-beautiful! Nothing was too much trouble and their children were delightful and helpful too. Breakfast is continental but adequate to start the day, Lori cooks all her own pasteries!! Highly recommend for its position, views and one of the warmest welcomes I have had in many visits to the USA. It provided great "down time" in a busy holiday and we then moved on to Gettysburg which is only 1hour 20 mins away which as Brits we found fascinating.

nice decor,very clean, true gem!

We have stayed at Homestead Lodging several times in the past few years. It is rare these days to stumble upon a place as delightful as this! The owners, Bob and Lori are very warm and accommodating. The rooms are simple but comfortable. Nice decor, very clean and a true gem for the price!! There is a refrigerator in the room, stocked with juices, other beverages and snacks. Again, very reasonable. The continental breakfast is very yummy. We have found that after eating a typically large meal for dinner, it is really a perfect breakfast. This is a perfect place for couples or a girls getaway. There are signs in the room to be mindful of loud talking, TV etc. We have never had a problem. I do prefer the upstairs rooms as they are a little quieter and I love the views from the 2nd floor. When we return to Homestead Lodging, we always feel like we are being welcomed home!

amazing hospitality

Thank you so much for the amazing hospitality you have shown us! I think we crammed everything this area has to offer in our short stay - including a free concert! I really love your B&B - especially your amazing danishes in the morning! If we ever come back to town, we will be sure to stay here again!

Fabulous place!

I have been to this B&B many times over a period of four years and while I sympathize with the writer who had the unfortunate experience with noisy housemates, I would urge him/her to give this B&B another chance. Lori and Bob have since put little notices on the desks in each room gently requesting that guests be mindful of conversations late at night and early in the morning, TV's blaring, etc. Some people just do not think, but considerate people who are not used to living with other guests will read Lori and Bob's notices and make an effort to be thoughtful. As for the individual who complained about the limited breakfast offerings. Lori and Bob not only say on their website that their B&B offers a continental breakfast, but also they reiterate that on their confirmations. A continental breakfast is just what they serve. The individual who complained was clearly expecting a full breakfast. Those who make reservations are responsible for understanding what it is they are booking. Lori is an unbeatable baker and she and Bob are the soul of integrity. They would never advertise anything they would not deliver. One time I left a lined pad in my room that I didn't even miss and Lori saved it for me and gave it to me the next time I stayed there. As a frequent guest at Homestead Lodging I have never had a problem with noise and I have often been there when all rooms were filled. The individual who had all the trouble with the noise, unfortunately, just came at a bad time. I can say with experience that that is a very atypical situation. I have stayed at other properties in the area before I stayed at Homestead Lodging and now I would never stay anywhere else except with Lori and Bob. They sincerely care about their guests and treat them like family.
