Describe Garden and Grounds

Holualoa Inn is harmoniously situated among fragrant flower gardens, tropical fruit trees, Kona Coffee trees, culinary herb gardens, and walking trails. The drive is lined with avocado and mango trees, and red torch ginger flowers escort you up to the pineapple gardens. Our open-air Malulani Pavilion is the perfect setting for Big Island weddings, corporate events, anniversary parties, family reunions and more. Enjoy spectacular ocean views, stunning sunsets, and beautiful open-beam vaulted ceilings for a casual yet elegant atmosphere. The Pavilion opens onto our expansive Great Lawn, which can also be tented for larger events. The ocean view mosaic pool is the ideal spot to spend a long, lazy afternoon. Loll in lounger or take refuge from the sun in the shade of a gazebo. Or simply stop by for a refreshing dip on a warm day. Early Hawaiian footpaths wind through the estate and down beside green pasture lands rich with sweet guava and liliko'i. Tall bamboo forests grow amid jungle trees and old-growth forests. A common site, Hawaiian pheasants journey the gardens in the evening as the breezes come down the mountain.

Walk the Labyrinth

We woke to the rain this morning. I went down for an early morning walk it was cool and misty. I walked the labyrinth and did Tai Chi. Now it is clear and I can see to China from the window. We only had two nights but would love it to have been forever. Mahalo!

Best Hide-Away

We were just looking for a relaxing alternative to the typical beach hotel scene for a final night on the Big Island. What we found was the best bed, best sleep, best hide-away of the trip. This is where we will start and end next time! Aloha & Mahalo

Finally Home

My husband and I spent the last two nights in the Gardenia room - and it was the most romantic, magical two nights we've ever had. We are no strangers to beautiful inns (Kenwood Inn & Spa in Sonoma, Sea Rock Inn in Mendocino) but the Holualoa Inn is special. The energy of this place instantly makes you feel as though you are finally "home". the view is unreal, the amenities are fabulous, but most of all, the staff is what makes the Holualoa Inn shine. Leave enough time in the trip to enjoy the Inn itself, especially the roof top gazebo! We love this place and are already planning our trip back!

Delights of the Holualoa Inn

This is our second visit, ten months after we discovered the delights of the Holualoa Inn. From the moment we arrived we felt like we were home again. The staff and environment were everything we fondly remembered, and we were delighted to discover that our first night coincided with the Holualoa Village Holiday Tree Lighting ceremony and street faire. Time passes too quickly and we are already dreaming of our next visit. Mahalo nui loa!

Magical Place

For at least one week of our stay we were in a trance. This is a magical place that breathes tranquility into you whether you like it or not. And of course we did. It must be built on sacred grounds. Falling under it's spell has been relaxing and rejuvenating all at once. Give into it...sit in the livingroom...feel the island breeze and listen to the island speak...enjoy.

Renewed

These days have been filled with beauty, good fellowship and hospitality from the entire staff. The glorious view, comfortable bed, and serene garden areas renewed us. Our gratitude will be everlasting as we remember the graciousness and happiness infusing this hallowed site. It is difficult to move on, but the Big Island's beauty brings us back. This place is bound to be at the top of our favored sites from now on. Thank you and blessings!

A Wonderful Starting Place!

First time visiting this island and what a wonderful starting place! My husband and I were able to relax, enjoy the solitude and have lots of lovely moments together. Particularly from the "Crows Nest" at night you can see all of the lights below...take some music up there too.

Our Honeymoon

This has been a truly relaxing and special way to begin our honeymoon. The staff has taken such great care of us. From the amazing breakfasts & afternoon snacks to the great recommendations for local hotspots & restaurants. the view of the island could not be any better than from the Hibiscus room. This has easily been our best lodging experience ever and we hope to stay here again in the future.
