Mickelson Trail

We came from Oregon just to do the Mickelson Trail. How fortunate we were to find High Country was right on the trail. Larry gave us such good advice for biking & camping and the Moonshine Gulch Saloon in Rochford. Everyone along the trail has been great! How can I talk about this trip and not mention the weather! Beautiful fall colors. Warm 70's days. And the stars at night! What a place!

Our first trip to the Black Hills

It was great! The resort is quiet & clean & the owners were super nice! The horse ride yesterday was lots of fun - would definately do that again. This area is so beautiful. I can't wait to visit again. This was our 11th wedding anniversary & it was a perfect trip.

What a beautiful setting!

From the time that we arrived, as the horses were being run to the "free" pasture, to the morning return on our last day. We enjoyed our refreshing - fantastic stay! Thank you for creating this heaven among the natural wonders and tourist sites. We did it all in a relatively short time. Saw the buffalo (bison), the sculptures, the stars - heard the river and the cows mooing. It was wonderful!

Had a great stay.

Loved watching the staff bring horses in and back out to pasture. Sandy and Rascal were very entertaining too. The staff were so helpful and friendly. Went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable.

Beautiful cabin & beautiful setting

It was so nice to hear the stream running from behind the cabin. Thank you for putting so much thought into the furnishings. etc. inside. We wanted for nothing!

The Sunflower Cabin

Our first visit to the area and High Country G.R. was exactly what we needed. The accommodations and staff were outstanding. We feel blessed to have found you. Thank you and God bless Hebrews 13:2

Spring Equinox

We stayed for a group spring equinox celebration. Music, friends, food; it was a beautiful weekend in the hills. Thanks for providing the venue! From one home schooling family to another, you have a great ranch!

Great summer camping cabins

The ranch is in a great location and gives a real western vibe. The cabins are roomy and accomodating. The show is also a lot of fun. Perfect for families.

Nice...but could be cleaner

I have stayed at High Country a few times in different cabins during the Autumn. The Black Hills are beautiful this time of year. The cabins are outfitted with most of the things you would need to cook dinner and towels for bathing. The beds are firm. It is rare to see your neighbors or anyone else on the ranch during this time of year and cell service limited at best so if you have an emergency come prepared. It is a nice place to stay but we have had experiences that led us to choose a different property for this year-cabins being unswept, flys buzzing all night in the windows and all over the floors, etc. Inoperable fire place, cold hot tub. It is what you make of it but don't expect a grand hotel. It is a cabin.
