Circa 1870. Originally known as the Island House cottage, this historic inn served as an annex for a summer hotel. Eventually, it turned into a boarding house and was used as apartments. Now more than a century old, the inn has returned to its original purpose, accommodating the many guests who flock to Maine's idyllic seashore. Some guest rooms offer a harbor view, and room sizes range from a cozy little room with a whirlpool tub to rooms with king-size canopy beds and sitting areas. Clawfoot or whirlpool tubs are available in many rooms. For breakfast, guests enjoy items such as homemade granola and freshly baked muffins or breads with an entree of perhaps blueberry pancakes or eggs Benedict. Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park are about 20 minutes away, and museums, lighthouses, restaurants and shops are nearby.
