About Our Rooms
Santa Ana Suite
The Santa Ana suite, named for the Pueblo located just south of the Hacienda, is a spacious two-room suite that reflects the history of New Mexico and evokes memories of the past. This rustic retreat is filled with the spirit of the Old West from the artwork from local artists to the tin ceiling in the private bathroom.
The Santa Ana has a front sitting room complete with wide wood plank floors, a futon sofa which can make into a full size bed, a sitting area with table & chairs and an antique oak Hoosier. The bedroom has a queen bed, oversized chair and a gas kiva fireplace. The private bathroom has a double Jacuzzi tub and walk-in shower. Through the bathroom, there is a second private entrance from which you can step into a small private courtyard perfect for watching sunsets.
San Felipe Suite
The San Felipe Suite, named for the Pueblo just north of the Hacienda, is a spacious two-room suite that reflects a mixture of romantic and southwestern decor. There is a front sitting room complete with wide wood plank floors, a futon sofa which can make into a queen-size bed, table and chairs, and an antique oak block ice cabinet.
The bedroom has a queen bed, vanity and a gas kiva fireplace. The private bathroom has a double Jacuzzi tub and walk-in shower. There is a second private entrance through the bathroom. From there, you can step out to a small private courtyard that faces west. It’s a perfect place to enjoy the sunset.
Santa Fe Suite
The Santa Fe Suite, accessed through an archway in the inner courtyard, provides seclusion, romance and a sense of timelessness. The archway leads into a small private walled-in, bricked courtyard. The Santa Fe is named after the capitol of New Mexico, translated as the “Town of the Holy Faith.”
Just as the Pueblo, Spanish and Anglo cultures of Santa Fe interweave the old with the new to create a rich and mystifying “Land of Enchantment,” the Santa Fe Suite seamlessly meshes the old with the new. The bathroom floor, composed of 100+ year old bricks, combines with the modern double Jacuzzi tub to fuse the past with the present. The kiva fireplace along with the “coved” ceiling enhances the experience of serenity. The Santa Fe has a queen bed, a sitting room separated by a half, stair-step wall and a spacious bathroom with double Jacuzzi tub, walk-in shower and lounging settee.
Kiva Suite
The Kiva Junior Suite, located in the main Hacienda building, is a spacious getaway. It’s perfect for relaxing all day long or using as a home base after exploring New Mexico. The Kiva is aptly named in honor of the Native American kivas you will find in all the Pueblos and historical sites such as Bandelier, Coronado and Chaco Canyon. This is our most popular room and has been frequently re-booked by guests over the years.
The Kiva has a queen bed, a wood-burning kiva fireplace, sitting area with table and chairs, a twin day bed separated from the main room by a half stair-step wall and a private bath with a single Jacuzzi tub and walk-in shower. The elegance and romance here is accentuated by blue furnishings, rich blue bathroom tiles and a massive antique armoire with mirror. Use the private outdoor entrance through French doors to enter the inner courtyard which is home to a 200+ year old tree.
Peña Junior Suite
The Peña Junior Suite, located in the main Hacienda, is a spacious and airy room perfect for hanging out during the day and with plenty of space for regrouping at the end of a long day sightseeing or hiking. The name is in honor of Amado Peña, a favorite Southwest artist of Jule Vargas, the original owner of Hacienda Vargas.
This comfortable getaway has a queen bed and a twin day bed, plus a table and chairs, and a large wood-burning kiva fireplace. The private bath features a large antique claw-foot soaking tub and shower with antique fixtures complete with water closet toilet and pedestal sink. The vanity and medicine cabinet are pieces from the well-known New Mexican Robert Wagoner’s former dentistry office. The suite is artistically decorated with wall stencils and displays the original 150+ year old adobe wall through a glass encasing called a Truth Window. In addition to the entrance from inside the Hacienda, the Peña has French doors which open out to the Hacienda’s north yard.
Piñon Room
The Piñon Room, located in the main Hacienda, sits at the former 1920s location of the Algodones Post Office. Celebrating the native Piñon tree of New Mexico, we burn the aromatic piñon in our fireplaces and serve the precious piñon nut in our pancakes. The Piñon’s massive, wood-burning kiva fireplace enhances coziness and comfort. In addition to its entrance from inside the Hacienda, the Piñon has an outdoor entrance from the North yard.
The Piñon has a queen-size bed and a rocker for enjoying the firelight or reading. The private bathroom has a large old-fashioned claw-foot tub and shower with antique fixtures, a pedestal porcelain sink with antique fixtures and a water closet toilet. The bedroom’s furnishings are simple, yet complete with an antique armoire and shaded standing bedside lamps.
Acoma Room
The Acoma Room, located through a private entrance from the inner courtyard just outside our historic chapel, is a quiet and cozy space where you can relax, think about days gone by, and unwind. Dedicated to the people of the Acoma Pueblo, this peaceful retreat features two-foot-thick authentic adobe walls and original brick floors provide comfort and serenity to those who sleep here.
The massive kiva fireplace is non-functional today, but stocked with candles, while the traditional niche is home to local pottery. The Acoma’s private bathroom has a miniature, antique soaking tub as well as a walk-in shower. The Acoma offers a double bed and a sitting area with table and chairs, as well as wood beam ceilings, soothing southwest colors and an antique Singer sewing machine complete with working treadles.
