Description

Circa 1906. If you are a connoisseur of inns, you'll be delighted with this stately mansion in the Wilmington Historic District and in the National Register. Recently chosen by American Historic Inns as one of America's Top Ten Romantic Inns, towering columns mark the balconied grand entrance. Its 14,000 square feet of magnificent space includes antique furnishings, art and amenities. A staircase of hand-carved red oak rises three stories. Guests lounge in the music room, drawing room and library. A conference room and sitting area are on the third floor, once a grand ballroom. The elegant guest rooms are often chosen for special occasions, especially the Bellevue, which offers a King bed, sofa and handsome period antiques with a 2-person soaking tub and shower.

BE FLEXIBLE AND EXPECT CHANGES

Great facility - Poor ownership/managment. Married here on Valentines 2010. Reserved same room several months in advance for our anniversary. Told two weeks before our confirmed date that our room was no longer available because they had given it to a movie company to do filming and they wanted it earlier and there was nothing they could do. Offered an alternate room - but that wasn't the point. We reserved a specific room to relive our wedding night and were given a confirmation several months earlier. The room was made not available to us by their choice - not because there was a problem with the room. They could have told the movie company that the room was rented - it totally destroyed what was to be an annual tradition for my wife and I. Guess the ones with the big money win. Will never book there again - so as not to have plans totally changed at the last minute, as we had planned our entire anniversary around this stay. So if you book a room, make sure you are willing to adjust your plans.

Best accommodations in Wilmington

We were delighted to find the inn to be everything as described on the website, and more. Comfy robes leave you feeling pampered, Kilwin's chocolates with turndown offered a sweet treat before bedtime all within walking distance from Front/Water Streets and all the fun that comes with them. (recommend Elijah's and Circa 1922). the innkeepers were extremely friendly which is always my favorite about the B&B experience.
