Circa 1832. Two side-by-side brick Federal mansions with Victorian embellishments have been restored to preserve their antiquity yet provide today's conveniences. Built in the early 1830s as private homes, their history includes having served as a stagecoach tavern, primary school, and possibly a stop on the Underground Railroad. Watch videos, play games or read a book by the fire in the library. Socialize over hors d’oeuvres in the parlor. Elegant guest bedrooms and suites are named for local varieties of grapes and feature antiques, reproductions, data ports, VCRs and fine toiletries. Two main breakfast dishes, pastries and breads, a hot or cold fruit sampler, juice and freshly ground coffee are enjoyed in the formal Dining Room or the light and airy Sun Porch. A guest refrigerator is stocked with beverages and homemade treats are always available.

Better Communication Needed

Grape Arbor Bed and Breakfast

We called to ask if we could use our free night certificate, were told yes, and so booked 2 suites, secured with a credit card, and comfirmed via email. When we arrived, the hostess had a whole new story and was obviously agitated with us. Although she agreed to accept the certificate based on the fact I had my written confirmation, she continued to be agitated. The next morning, she seemed to have calmed down, and served a wonderful breakfast. After a day of sightseeing, we returned, only to find that my husband and I only got 1 set of towels, while our friend's bed in their suite was not made up. Again, another delicious breakfast, but the innkeeper needs to get on the "same page" with others who work for her. We would stay here again only if they communicated better.

InnSide Tip - Bring your confirmation
Make sure you request confirmation via either email or snail mail. Dining at the Freeport Restaurant was fabulous - not fancy - just good!

My husband and I stayed at the Grape Arbor in early July of 2010. We wanted to get away for our five year anniversary. We stayed in the Cabernet Suite and loved it. The room was very nice and the bathroom excellent. We went to the Cherry Festival across the street, to the beach at Presque Isle, and visited Wineries. We had a very nice time and are very glad we stayed at the Grape Arbor. However, hands down, our favorite thing about our stay at this bed and breakfast was the BREAKFASTS. Wow, they were amazing! Everything was homemade and delicious. I cannot wait to return just to having such amazing food and such nice service:)
