The Kress Room, named for the former five-and-dime chain store in downtown Asheville, NC, contributes some “Shabby Chic” to Hill House — all the casual elegance of traditional antiques and all the cozy comfort of modern decor. Shades of whites and blues with accents of silver create a fresh and light ambience. Located on a corner of the second floor, guests might enjoy afternoon tea and quiet seclusion in its winged-back Victorian chair. The queen bed mattress is the newest and comfiest on the property. The bathroom, with the purest shades of blues and whites, is charmed with a silver gilded claw-foot tub, pedestal sink, and chandelier.
