Circa 1870. The family of Confederate blockade runner John Rugheimer built this charming brick building after the Civil War ended. Bright cheery decor and fine furnishings highlight the architecture, which includes cathedral ceilings and several fireplaces. The inn affords views of the city skyline, full of historic sites and gracious, Southern buildings. Guest rooms boast canopy beds draped with hand-strung netting and large, whirlpool tubs. The innkeeper includes a refrigerator in each room, and delivers breakfast on a silver tray. Wine and sherry are served in the lobby.
