Description

Circa 1896. For more than a century, the Five Gables Inn has perched on a garden-framed hillside overlooking Linekin Bay. This coastal Maine Inn was originally built in 1896 and underwent an exciting restoration in 1989 which brought back to life one of the only remaining summer hotels in East Boothbay, Maine. Guests now relax and enjoy the tranquility of East Boothbay by lounging near the living room fireplace with a book or magazine or sitting back in a rocking chair on the porch, enjoying the gentle sea breezes coming off the bay. A five-minute drive puts you in the middle of Boothbay Harbor with windjammers, trips to Monhegan Island, kayaking, hiking, whale watching, lobster dining, galleries and shopping.

This corner room has lots of windows and a bay view. Beadboard wainscoting, soft colors, and wicker and pine furniture give this lovely room the feeling of a breezy summer day in Maine. A hand painted mural by a local artist of a trompe l'oiel fireplace is the focal point of the room. Terrific Bay View.

Rates: $169 - $199

Our sea mariners room has a marvelous bay view with soft coastal colors, white coastal four poster bed and enough sea shells to let you know you are on the coast. To counter those cool evening sea breezes this room has a romantic fireplace with a hand painted willow design. Bay View.

Room 9

We love this light, cheery room. It's very Maine cottage in feel. The walls are hand painted blue and white stripes above crisp, white wainscoting. There is a little window seat below a diamond-shaped window, hand painted furniture, a cheerful quilt on the queen bed, and a wonderful view of the bay.

Rates: $159 - $189

Room 10

One of our more requested rooms. Fall leaves are spectacular from this corner room that catches the morning sun. With water views in two directions, you'll know every lobster and sail boat on Linekin Bay. A King size bed, a little hand painted night stand, a "shabby chic" dresser all add to this rooms individuality. Terrific Bay View.

Room 11

"By the sea by the beautiful sea". You'll see what we mean when you see this room. Tucked under one of the five gables, a window seat all cozy with pillows and overlooking the bay, soft blues, and a summery white chenille spread on the queen bed all lend to make this one of the most tranquil rooms in the inn. Bay View.

Rates: $159 - $189

Type of bed: Queen

Room 12

Like being in one of those old-fashioned attic rooms. This room has character. Charming slanted ceilings, skylight, a window seat overlooking the bay and a rocking chair all combine to make this a very popular room with our guests. Bay View.

Rates: $145 - $175

Type of bed: Queen

Room 14

Our largest room. You may feel like a sea captain in here. Located under the 2 large gables, you'll know you're in Maine when you see the shimmering view of Linekin Bay from this room. After dark, when the view is covered by night, you can enjoy the seating area in front of the working fireplace with its antique marble mantle. Terrific Bay View.

Rates: $225 - $275

Type of bed: King

Room 15

The star of this room is the seascape mural that goes up and over the bed painted by a local artist. Sleep under hand painted clouds and billowing white awning. This is another one of our "gable rooms" with slanted ceilings and a charming window seat with a view of the bay.

Rates: $145 - $175

Type of bed: Queen

Room 16

Water water everywhere. Our smallest room has the best view in the inn. Your head never has to leave the pillow to gaze on water, trees, and sky. This delightful corner room, located under one of the five gables, has slanted ceilings and a window seat just right for reading. Handmade and hand painted queen bed.

Rates: $159 - $189

Type of bed: Queen

Room 17

The twin beds in this room (which can be made into a king) are covered cheery red, white and blue quilts. Coastal Maine cottage shutters, a vintage hand painted armoire and white wainscoting headboard sets off the room.
