My wife and I have been coming to Fairlea Farm for many years, sharing the warm hospitality of Walt and Susan Longyear. This is an idyllically located retreat a short walk from the center of Little Washington. The views across the farm to the Blue Ridge are spectacular. The newly renovated rooms are a delight, and the breakfasts will make you want to jot down recipes (we have, actually). The Longyears will happily arrange your dinner reservations at the Inn at Little Washington if you choose to go. We always do!

Circa 1960. View acres of rolling hills, farmland and the Blue Ridge Mountains from this fieldstone manor house. Rooms are decorated with crocheted canopies and four-poster beds. Potted plants and floral bedcovers add a homey feel. The stone terrace is set up for relaxing with chairs lined along the edge. As a young surveyor, George Washington laid out the boundaries of the historic village of Little Washington, which is just a 5-minute walk from Fairlea Farm, a working sheep and cattle farm.
