Mad Creek B&B

There is just the right combination of Victorian décor with lace, flowers, antiques and gingerbread trim on the façade of this mountain town cottage. The home-away-from-home atmosphere is inviting and the Eastlake furnishings are comfortable. Relax in front of the rock fireplace while watching a movie, peruse the library filled with local lore or plan an adventure with local maps and guide books. Empire was once a mining town, conveniently located within 20 to 60 minutes of at least six major ski areas.

The Peck House

Built as a residence for gold mine owner James Peck, this is the oldest hotel still in operation in Colorado. Many pieces of original furniture brought here by ox cart remain in the inn, including a red antique fainting couch and walnut headboards. Rooms such as the Conservatory provide magnificent views of the eastern slope of the Rockies, and a panoramic view of Empire Valley can be seen from the old front porch.
