Romantic Interest

Many weddings have taken place here over the decades, and in all seasons. Some followed the couples having met at the Lodge. One of the cottages offers the perfect romantic spot for newly weds or couples just getting some alone time.

What's Green About Your Inn

We change bedding and towels only for each new guest, holding laundry for greater efficiency of large loads. Buildings use natural airflow, shade, and ceiling fans for summer cooling. Passive solar window placement aids in winter heating.

Describe Garden and Grounds

Mostly wooded with tall pines and stands of birch trees. Small gardens dot the waterfront area. A soft lawn leads to the sandy beach.

Autumn Leaf

James\' Split Pea Stew

Bacon Blueberry Chocolate Chip Cookies

Begin with the Nestle Toll House Cookie recipe to keep it simple, or your own favorite, basic chocolate chip cookie recipe. Additional ingredients are:

Cornbread

This is the cornbread James\' grandmother used to make. Use a cast iron muffin pan greased with lard for the best flavor.

Dark & Stormy

Here is a drink appropriate to winter, to the political season, but hopefully not to your romantic aspirations! We\'re told it is popular with lobstermen.

like coming home

“The Mercers have been coming for the last few years and feel like we're 'coming home' more and more each year. Thank you so much for making this relaxing experience a much-looked-forward-to part of our year. It is so fun being able to stay all together and cook our delicious meals in your amazing kitchen. We all want one just like this in the lodge! See you next year!”
