Dallas,

The Eagle's Nest in Louisiana, Missouri is sheer delight. The Innkeeper, Karen Stoeckley, is a true experienced, warm, welcoming professional and chef and she has beautifully renovated her series of late 19th century brick buildings on the main street (Georgia) of this charming old French town just a block from the mighty Mississippi riverfront. Her in-house restaurant, the Eagle's Nest Bistro, serving three delicious meals a day, is outstanding, with sophisticated cuisine informed by her many trips to France and by her chef's training and experience. I was completely nurtured and restored by her attentive care and by my relaxed time in beautiful, spacious, sunny Room 7 on the top floor. Be prepared: the stairs are very steep but the railings are sturdy as are the steps and the staff are helpful in getting luggage up the stairs to your room as they are with anything else you need. Enjoy browsing their wine/gift shop as well as their in-house baked pastries.

Very beautiful inn. Decorations go well with period of inn. Clean, neat, well remodeled. There are two problems. Rooms are on second floor, be prepared to climb stairs, and trains go thru town several times at night. Otherwise, very nice place to stay, people are very friendly and helpful.

This was the perfect get away for two professionals who work 60 to 70 hours per week. We bought the two night couples get away package and it was worth every penny. The breakfast in the Bistro each morning was delicious and they have great coffee. The evening dinner in the dining room was far beyond our expectations. The lamb was excellent! The staff was friendly and fun and the room was very lovely and spacious with no dusty old dresses or hats and gloves.(We had a "dusty" B&B experience in a Victorian house with lots of fu fu.) We look forward to a return visit in the late fall. The M.T. Mitchums

InnSide Tip - Sculpture Park
West of town is a great sculpture park. wear your walking shoes. Also a great pewter shop where they make it on site like they did in the 1700's across the way from the Eagle's Nest.

My husband and I stayed here on our 5 yr wedding anniversary and had a wonderful time...the town was very historic and the room was awsome with a truly old fashioned feel with all the modern amenities. If I could suggest anything it would be to hire more personnel, the people who worked there were great just needed more of them, all said it was a great time surrounded by a great establishment will definitely be back!!!

I've just returned from a stay at the Eagle's Nest. They have the potential to be a great destination. They are missing the little details. If you are going to stay here DO NOT stay in room 2 unless you are with the guests in room 1 as they are only separated by a door which allows all sound through. We were given room 2 and this ruined our first night. They did allow us to move but were not generous in compensating for the trouble we had our first night there or the fact that we had to pack up and move to antoher room. I hope that they improve on their customer service skills and hire more staff. Also there will be no coffee available prior to sitting down at your breakfast table in the morning so bring your own.

For those of you considering a trip that isn't too far, but isn't too close to St. Louis...I highly recommend Eagle's Nest. The food is incredible, the winery has some fantastic Missouri wines, and the rooms are all quaint. What has kept me coming back time and again is the combination of all these things, but mostly it is the hospitality and accommodating nature of the staff. They truly make my stay in Louisiana memorable year after year.
