Circa 1754. Believed to be the oldest continuously operating inn in the state, the Curtis House began as the Orenaug Inn, run by Anthony Stoddard. In 1900, the roof was raised and a third floor of eight rooms laid out in anticipation of a boom from a scheduled trolley service. All the guest rooms in the main house have canopied beds. Regional Yankee fare such as chowders, bisques and crusted pot pies are served at the inn.

Innkeeper Note

The Curtis House, Connecticut's Oldest Inn. Built before 1736. Every modern comfort every ancient charm. The inn boasts a beautiful lobby area for diners and hotel guests alike to sit and visit, or just to pass the time. The fireplaces in the lobby or all of the dining rooms can be found going during the cool New England days or nights. Wonderful place to have your functions: baby shower, bridal shower, rehearsal dinner, wedding or anniversary. The same wonderful attention will be given to your party whether it is 2 or 80. Enjoy our cozy pub dining room for a more casual family flare to your dining experience. The Hardisty Family has owned it since 1954, and 4 generations of the family have graciously served the public. Stop in and enjoy real New England Hospitality.
