Could You Get a 52% Increase with a New Website and Newsletter Marketing?

Internationally respected digital expert, Marketing Sherpa offers this case study of an inn’s success in raising occupancy by 52%.
In 2008 the bottom fell out for family-owned Jamaica Inn. Here’s what they did to recover starting in 2012:

  1. Launched a New Website (with each page promoting signing up for their newsletter)
  2. Email Marketing

The family’s goal was to “start an email marketing program to stay in touch regularly with subscribers and begin to build stronger relationships,” They have 3 lists: past guests, travel agents and prospects. Their new email program includes regular newsletters, e-postcards and holiday greetings.

The newsletter uses guests first names and always features beautiful photography.

The main goal of the inn’s email? Building relationships.

“Most view email strictly as a promotional sales tool — We view it as a relationship building vehicle.

“People want to do business with people they like, so as we build those relationships, sales follow,” innkeeper Kyle Mais explained.
