Loved It!

My husband and I stayed at Christopher Place last week and absolutely LOVED it! We stayed in the Lion's Den - it was huge. The bed was one of the most comfortable that I have ever slept in. Having a jacuzzi in the room was very romantic. I can not say enough about the service. Everyone was so nice and helpful. I felt as though I were staying in someone's home. The breakfasts were out of this world, and the food in the pub and dining room were outstanding. The chef is wonderful. She took the time to show us her vegetable garden and tell us about the things she grows there. Everything we ate there was fabulous! I would like to say thanks to Marston for an exceptional stay.

Unbeleivable

Jun 29, 2010 | Trip type: Couples I saw the pictures and reviews of Christopher Place online but seeing it all in person was unbelievably better. Everything is so intimate and relaxing. I've traveled to many places and stayed in some really great Inns/Hotels/Resorts but Christopher Place has them all beat.

Romantic Escape

Just came home from Christopher Place. What a wonderful retreat. Out of the way, down a long road, it makes you think you've left everything behind. Unbelievable views. Situated well that we were able to explore the Smokies and Asheville. I would recommend this B&B to anyone and hope to return again. Superb setting and service.

Romantic Retreat

This bed and breakfast was absolutely fabulous. I had never before stayed in a bed and breakfast and was very apprehensive about my first time. My boyfriend and I arrived well after 10:00PM and a very nice gentleman came back up the mountain because he saw our headlights and wanted to make sure that we were settled and comfortable. That was only the beginning of the excellent customer service that we received. The next morning we had missed breakfast and the staff actually saved us each a full spread. Everyone went above and beyond to serve us. The view from our room was amazing and the verandas on either side are available to everyone. The third floor has an amazing socializing area and the library and dining rooms are really works of art. Their private hiking trail is also a lot of fun for inexperiences as well as avid hikers. The location is great and the atmosphere is very romantic but also laid back. There is a detailed book in every room that suggests fun as well as romantic activities and the staff all give excellent recommendations. Head into downtown Gatlinburg 30 miles away for a fun filled day or head over to the Biltmore Estate is Asheville, NC for a romantic and grand day. The beds are so comfortable and the rooms so beautiful that you may never want to venture out.

Romantic Location

The location, the facility, and staff were great. We were just a Colorados Broadmoor Hotel last month; I would choose this. The view is as good as they advertise as are the rooms. I'm sending my sisters to see the autumn colors. There is a lot to do at the Place in the way of games, swimming, tennis, hiking, and a exercise room. The bar is stocked and food is available all day. It is not, by any means, your customary bed and breakfast.

A most romantic weekend

The most romantic weekend ever was at the Christopher Inn. It was the weekend of December 19th through 21st, 2003. Ah yes, I remember it well. We arrived Thursday evening December 18th. When we got up the next morning, we saw what an unusual and surprise overnight ice storm had left. The parking lot was a skating rink, and the steep and curvy road up the mountain to Christopher Inn looked like a Olympic toboggan run. Since we were driving our new Mercedes, we were a little cautious about driving down the mountain. One of the guys on the maintenance staff explained how to do it. You never touch the accelerator. You just keep your foot lightly on the brake and steer and let the natural pull of the transmission take you down the hill. Very much like a toboggan run. We decided we needed to wait until things cleared up a bit. Fortunately the Christopher Inn was well stocked for breakfasts and dinners, and the staff was very inventive coming up with a variety of things for lunch. And since we had known that Newport was in a dry county, we had brought our own wine in the trunk of the car.So there was no choice. We had to relax, sit in front of the fire, read a good book, sip a glass of wine, and enjoy fabulous cuisine. What a wonderful place to be stranded with someone you love! We had originally been on our way to Atlanta, but had to reschedule that trip. When we left Nonday, we drove back to Indianapolis in a warm glow all the way. After 20 years together, we still talk about that fabulous weekend. Baldwin and Jenny Kloer Indianapolis, IN

Romantic Smokey Mtn Resort

My husband and I spent 3 nights in April, 2009. Beyond all our expectations! Resort was beautiful, wonderfully situated on top of the mountain with incredible view. Staff went overboard to meet our needs and make our stay special. Would highly recommend this for a very romantic occasion - you will always remember it!

Honeymoon Romance :)

We picked Christopher Place as our first stop on our honeymoon. We later wished we had planned our entire stay for their beautiful Inn. The winding country road up to the Inn gives you a sense of peace and privacy. Suddenly, around a bend you see a beautiful estate sprawled out in front of you. We walked in to see a winding staircase with sparkling chandeliers. Such a breathtaking site that I tried to take pictures of it. At the top, we found our suite. Double doors opened to our massive suite complete with fireplace and oversized whirlpool tub. Our suite was AMAZING! Better than I could have imagined. The mountain view was incomparable. Our room was waiting that night with a delicious chocolate covered strawberry snack. The King-sized bed was plush with luxurious bedding. The carpet was soft and clean. We had the most elaborate breakfast in bed brought to our room the next morning. Every evening gourmet dinners served in the candle-lit dining room. It was so perfect! The most romantic beginning I could have imagined for the beginning of our life together.

Romantic, magical honeymoon!

My new husband and I chose Christopher Place for our honeymoon in January 2007. It was absolutely magical! The decor is beautiful, the service impeccable and the food delicious. We greatly enjoyed the peace and quiet after the rush and excitement of the holiday season followed by our wedding. We stayed in an attic room overlooking the valley, and the view was breathtaking. We enjoyed visiting Biltmore House in Asheville, NC and Gatlinburg during our stay. One of the highlights of our visit was when it began to snow during breakfast on the next to last day of our stay, and we drove in it to Gatlinburg, and walked in the snow there. The wild turkeys were enjoyable to watch, as well. We are already making plans to return for our fifth wedding anniversary in January 1012!

The Romantic Gift of Time

Family, job demands, church and community responsibilities and 32 years of marriage later, my husband was saying, "we really need some alone time." So, as I thought of the typical Christmas gifts, they all seemed so boring, and then, I thought, "maybe I should give him the gift of time." I found Christopher Place Inn, "Top 10 Romantic Inns," and I made reservations for four nights, over New Years Eve. An elegant room, soaking in the hot tub, enjoying a gourmet breakfast, hiking on the beautiful mountain property with a picnic lunch supplied by the Inn, candle lit dinner and southern charm are just a few of the ways Christopher Place set the tone for a Romantic reconnecting getaway. The view allowed for enjoying one of the most gorgeous and romantic sunrises I have ever witnessed. It is a great, romantic place to reconnect with your soul and your soul mate. I highly recommend this Inn.

We love Christopher's Place!!!!

My husband and I have gone to Christopher's place on 2 different occasions and have loved it. I strongly recommended having dinner at the resort at least one night you are there. The view is in incredible and the food os even better. The rooms are very cozy and can easily set the mood. We have always enjoyed ourselves and the service is very good. A good bit of the time the owner is there. It is noy very far from great attractions either. We give it 2 thumbs up!

REMARKABLY ROMANTIIC

My husband and I had our wedding at Christopher's in 2006. We have since visited twice since then for anniversaries. Christopher's has never been any short of remarkable. Our wedding was small but very intimate. Every detail of the wedding, dinner, and even our cake and pictures was taken care of by the wedding coordinator. The people at Christopher's have always been more than willing to meet any and every need that we had during our stays. But if a quite, secluded get away is your aim, Christopher's is perfect for that too. The staff is there at a call, but also gave us our space when we wanted to be all alone. The inn has always been immaculate. The rooms are simply beautiful. What more can I say. I would recommend Christopher's to anyone and everyone. They will never be disappointed. I am sure.

Summer Romance

My husband and I celebrated our 20th anniversary at Christopher Place. We wound our way up English Mountain on a rainy summer afternoon and were greeted at the summit by this beautiful mansion, the driveway flanked by two large urns overflowing with summer flowers. A resident cat lounged on the doorstep, greeting us with a welcome mew and a friendly rub. We entered into the grandeur of Christopher Place where for the next few days we would be pampered by the friendly staff and where we would emerge rested, refreshed and renewed. The marble floors of the towering foyer, the grand staircase spiraling around the sparkling chandelier, the intimate pub, the dining room and a sweeping panorama of the Smokies were a feast for the eyes and the first of many indulgences we would experience at Christopher place. Our room was Margaret's room, a large beautiful room with a huge 4 poster bed and dining table on which sat a welcome basket of chocolates, cheese, seasonal fruit and chilled champagne. We dined that night on a feast prepared by the resort chef who used only fresh local ingredients and herbs from Tim's organic herb garden. Our favorite wine was on their extensive list, and the view from our window seat affored us a spectacular summer sunset. Our plans for the weekend had included hiking trips into the Smokies and a visit to Biltmore; however, once we arrived at Christopher Place, with it's own hiking trails, rec room, picnic area, sparkling swimming pool, and huge porches with rocking chairs, we never left. Each day began with breakfast, which we chose to have served in our room so we could relax over a leisurely meal in our plush robes. The innkeepers became like family, catering to our every need and taking care of us as if we were their only guests. We swam, hiked, talked, ate, and relaxed for three glorious days, and when we left it was with a promise to ourselves that we would soon return.

Romantic Annivsary Stay

My wife and I stayed at the Christopher Place this past fall for our annivesary. We really enjoyed the large, beautiful home and grounds. Our room was very nice and very comfortable. We had wine and strawberries on our arrival. We had a very relaxing afternoon at the pool. Our evening consisted of an amazing meal and cocktails on the porch. It would be hard to find such a magical place but we did at Christpher Place.

Relaxed Romance

I almost feel guilty when I share my wedding experience at Christopher Place Resort, because I can not imagine having a more perfect wedding experience. How many brides remember their wedding day as both the most romantic and relaxing day of their life? From the moment my husband and I stepped inside of our Roman Holiday Suite, we felt that we had found our own perfect piece of romantic luxury inside of the Smokies. I felt like a queen and my husband was overflowing with anticipation-just how I had always imagined we should feel during our wedding. I can remember the butterflies I felt standing at the top of the winding staircase with my dad, knowing I was about to create a new family with the man waiting for me at the bottom. As I walked down the stairs, I could see the tears of my family, outside lush green mountains welcoming me, then I met my husbandís face and everything slowed down. The smile on his face is frozen in my memory, a smile of pride, love, and hope- a smile unlike any I had seen before. It had just stopped raining and we decided to walk out on the lawn for the ceremony, the hills glistening and romance stirring in the warm summer air. The sun was shining and we were surrounded by the ones we loved most. The ceremony was very personal and meaningful and the surroundings inspired us all, but some of my most memorable moments were the moments of imperfection. I can remember my dad stepping on my train and leaving a perfect grassy footprint, he was so sweet and concerned as he leaned down as if he could wipe it away with a wish. It was special to see my dad a bit unsteady as he gave away his only daughter- I treasure that footprint. While my husband and I were exchanging vows, I saw a bug land on the tip of his nose. I wanted to speak up, I wanted to laugh, but my husband stayed focused, he never moved a muscle. Again, another man in my life that was trying not to show his vulnerability, but it was written in his eyes and especially in his trembling leg. As the minister instructed my husband to kiss his bride, we heard applause from the balcony. A couple on their 25th anniversary had watched the ceremony from outside their room. As we waved to the couple, I envisioned us standing on the balcony 25 years from now and I smiled. From arrival to checkout, from the chocolate covered strawberries to relaxing in the intimate library with a glass of Merlot, from footprint to first dance; our wedding at Christopher Place will always have cherished memories of family, scenery, and romance that will sustain us for years to come.

Anniversary Get-Away

My bride and I celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary there. She found it through a web search. It was fabulous! It was well kept, the food was great, the suite was romantic and the service was excellent. Outstanding value for the price too. Great location - not far from Ashville, NC and the Biltmore and not far from Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. We plan to return again.

Private and Romantic Getaway!

My wife and I desperately needed a getaway and wow did Christopher Place deliver. We stayed 2 nights and we were sad to leave. The place is absolutely beautiful and quiet - it really gave us a chance to rekindle! What was especially great was how private it was. There were several other couples there, but we never even saw any of them more than once. It truly felt like we had awaken in our own mansion with one of the best cook's I have ever had serving us. The owner is a delight and he truly wants his guests to feel special. Christopher Place blew my expectations out of the water - by far, the best intimate B&B we have been to.

Romantic, Romantic, Romantic!

My husband and I stayed at Christopher Place for a short vacation, as the pictures looked incredible. Wow - it was even better than that! Watching the sun come up over the Smoky Mountains was breathtaking, walking the grounds, just relaxing in the beautiful house - it was simply awesome. Christopher House is close enough that you can go over to Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge, but honestly, you won't want to leave to go anywhere! It is a great place for a honeymoon or to get reacquainted and rejuvenated with your honey.

Romantic enough for our wedding

When my husband and I were looking for a place to get married we wanted somewhere, intimate, affordable and romantic. when we saw Christopher place it was a dream come true and I wanted to book it right away, although we did have hesitation because we had only seen it online and not in person. When we arrived, we were not disappointed!! Christopher Place was absolutely beautiful and the staff were fantastic!! We were welcomed on site and everything we wanted was made available to us. Christopher Place was clean, we stayed in the Margaret room and it was awesome!! We will most certainly go back for our anniversary!!

Romance in the Snow

We were very fortunate to discover Christopher Place for our honeymoon in April. The secluded setting, excellent individualized service, and room choices and decor astounded us. To add to our romantic interlude we also had the perfect setting of gentle snow falling during our stay with wild turkeys lounging along the serene woods. Dining by the fireplace in the library with such a setting was truely memorable! I would recommend a romantic get away at Christopher Place to any couple who wants more then just the standard experience.

A Romantic Honeymoon Delight!

We enjoyed the vacation of a lifetime at Christopher Place on our honeymoon! We didnít know what to expect as we had never been to this resort before. We read many great reviews and decided to take a chance. We could not have chosen a better location for our honeymoon. The staff at Christopher Place took care of every need we may had. The attention to detail and the southern hospitality didnít go unnoticed. We loved hearing about the history of this place from Marston. It made our stay much more personal to know so much about this beautiful place. Every room we went into at Christopher Place was unique and different. We stayed in the Mountain Sunrise room and it was spectacular. I canít think of a better way to wake up than looking at a beautiful sunrise and the mountains! The food was amazing! We are from a large urban city and have never had food like this. It is comparable to high end dining with a much more intimate setting! The freshly baked cookies daily were a treat as well. The best part about Christopher PlaceÖthe views. From the elegant dining room, the hiking trail, or the rocking chairs on the veranda, the view is breathtaking! I have never experienced such a peaceful place. We sat out in the rocking chairs each night and kept a journal of our days adventures. Every now and then, we read the journal and we love to relive our wonderful vacation together. We planned to go back for our five year anniversary, but I donít think we will be able to wait that long! We canít wait to go back to this hideaway in the mountains!

Pure Romance

This is a piece of heaven tucked away in the heartland of the Southeast. Christopher Place was were my wife and I spent our honeymoon for 3 glorious days and 4 nights. We only left once to go into Gatlinburg for some shopping. Other than that we never wanted to leave the serentity of this place. When you walk in the front door you realize you are in heaven. You are greeted by a large spiral staircase that just extends to the top floors. You get to relax in there beautiful individually designed rooms or out in there gorgeous gardens. And if that doesn't sound just great, they will make you a picnic basket to go on a hike with to a waterfall to have a pieceful and relaxing time away from everything within nature. My wife and I enjoyed the time we shared so much that we vowed we would return on every anniversary there after, unfortunately we have not been able to but long for the day we can share this dream of a place again. Thanks for the service and the delicious chef prepared food it was wonderful. (Date Stayed was 5/22/06)

Romantic stay at an Intimate Resort

For my birthday we chose Christopher Place and stayed two nights in the Roman Holiday suite which has a wood burning fireplace and a two person hot tub. The room faces East so we got two beautiful sun rises over the Smokey Mountains each morning. The fireplace added a lovely touch to stimulate intimacy whether in or out of the hot tub. After driving the area and lunching at the orchard and market near by, we returned for more fireplace viewing and just relaxing. For dinner we had a great meal in Marston's Library Pub, with Marston himself setting the fire in its fireplace and then staying to tell tails of the area, the Inn, and his grandparents who lived in the same city in Michigan we lived in before moving to South Carolina 20 years ago. After dinner drinks we returned to our own fireplace and hot tub to be followed by romance. Couldn't be a better or more romantic 79th birthday.

Romantic and Beautiful

What a place - Christopher Place. We are from Texas and in 2005 we searched the internet for a romantic place to be married. We could have gone anywhere, but something about Christopher Place stuck with us and as we continued searching the internet we kept coming back to look at the Christopher Place web site, so we made our reservation there and they were very helpful in setting up the minister and photographer for the wedding. As we drove the winding road up to Christopher Place we didn't know what to expect, what you see on the internet and what you physically see are often two very different things. The beauty of Christopher Place far exceeded what we had hoped for. The beauty of the house, the solitude, the landscape and view of the foothills of the Smokies was breath taking. Our room surpassed any place we had stayed or have stayed since. Staff and owners were very friendly and were glad to meet our every need. The food was as good as you will find in any 5 star restaurant. The wedding went off beautifully and the beauty of and our time spent at Christopher Place will be with us forever. Will we stay there again? You bet. Have we told others about it? Yes we have, and if they haven't stayed there it was their loss. We would recommend Christopher Place to anyone for any occasion, but for romance, you won't find a better place, period.

Christopher Place

My husband and I spent a wonderful, romantic week at Christopher Place in June 2009. This is the most perfect place for couples to share time together. The view is incredible, the grounds are gorgeous and the staff there is very accommodating and friendly. We will be spending another night there in January 2010 and plan on many more trips there as well.

Very Romantic B & B

My fiance and I have been to Christopher place twice both on short three night getaways. Christopher Place is extraordinary, Marston and his staff go above and beyond to make sure you have everything you need to make your stay special. They make sure you have all the extras the rooms are large and very comfortable, the food is GREAT and when they say "an intimate resort" they mean it! One of the most romantic nights I have ever had was at Christopher Place. We stayed there last September, on the last night of our stay we had just finished a wonderful meal and good drinks at the pub and were sitting on the front porch looking at the stars. My fiance asked me if I would like to get a better view from the upstairs porch and I agreed. When we got up there unknown to me Marston had set up the most romantic scene with candles and champagne, my now fiance got down on one knee and proposed. Marston and his staff made that night so special, I will never forget it! I would recommend Christopher place to anyone who just wants to getaway and have some time to themselves. You get resort quality with the intimacy of bed and breakfast!

Romance on a Silver Platter

Having spent nearly an entire blissful week of our honeymoon there, Christopher Place will be forever immortalized in our memories. We knew from the moment we rolled into the chateau-like front drive, that this was going to be an experience unlike any other. The incomparably hospitable staff warmly welcomed us, despite the lateness of the hour and, from the moment we arrived 'til the moment we departed, we were treated like royalty (granted, lodging in the regal setting afforded by The Roman Holiday helped to that end!) The staff was courteous, prompt and professional, the rooms were immaculate (I say rooms, plural, as we were allowed to tour all other unoccupied rooms), and the food was delicious. The view out our window was positively stunning and, as a bonus, we got to enjoy the unusual, yet breath-taking combination of fully-bloomed cherry blossoms and lightly falling snow. What a scene! I most certainly recommend Christopher Place to anyone wanting a romantic getaway, and we cannot wait to stay there again ourselves!

Our Favorite Romantic Destination

My husband and I first visited Christopher Place on Thanksgiving Day 2001. We were in the Smokies for our honeymoon and were just looking for an elegant holiday dinner, but we knew immediately we had to come back to stay. Since then, we have been back at least once a year. The tranquil surroundings, gorgeous views, dreamy bed, sweet staff, and exquisite food and wine will keep bringing us back for years to come. It's worth every mile of the drive from Nashville. Christopher Place is our favorite place to get away from it all, hands down!

Fond Romantic Rendezvous

My wife and I were both pilots in the US Air Force when we got married, but we were stationed 4000 miles away from each other. I was frantically planning an elaborate Greek getaway for our honeymoon, when my mom recommended we just get in my truck after the wedding and get lost in the Appalachian Mountains (always listen to your mom). I found Christopher Place resort during my research, and we were so thankful. It was perfect. We still have yet to travel to Greece, but we have returned to Christopher place and smile every time we recall our ideal honeymoon trip through the mountains.

InnSide Tip - Do some research
Christopher place is well positioned in the Smokey Mountains near the Blue Ridge Trail. With some research, you can find wonderful day trips to enhance your experience. Of course, it is okay to just shut the door and draw the shades too.

Romantical!

Christopher Place exceeded our expectations. Not only were the views exquisite, the service and property was exceptional. We took advantage of their picnic basket offer and had a picnic in our room. The property offers walking trails and a veranda that exudes romance. As a lover of bed and breakfasts, this is one of the best. Christopher Place is conducive to getting to catch up with your sweetie and unwinds hectic schedules.

My wives favorite place ever

My wife and I are bed and breakfast nuts. It all started with a few in Savannah and a few local where we live. I wanted to plan a romantic getaway for a long weekend> I started looking for a place in the mtns around Gatlinburg. Christophers Place was the first place that i looked at and I keep going back to it. Now I am so glad I did, my wife fell in love with the place and the staff. We have been married 4 years and together 10 years. we have travled many places in the states and out of the country and we consider here the most romantic and peaceful place we have ever been. Once we got there and meet the staff they made us feel at home in so many ways. had a beatiful room called Margrett's room. The food for breakfast was wonderful and supper was even better. Marston the Inn owner even went out of his way to get me a piece of his homemade chocolate cake for after supper. For two days we did nothing but enjoy time off and being with each other and not having any worries. We will forsure be back and we have told everyone about our favorite getaway. We even tell the other B and B about this place.

Perfect Christmas Gift

My boyfriend and I recently arranged for a small getaway at Christopher Place to surprise his mother who lives in TN as a Christmas Gift. I cannot stress enough how perfect of a gift this was. Surprised would not be the word to describe her reaction, astounded and touched are closer to the truth. From the first moment we saw the house she was completely speechless and awed. And after pulling into the park in front of Christopher Place all three of us were truly amazed by the beauty of it. But that was only the beginning. Arriving before the scheduled check-in time of 3pm, I was reluctant to walk in a full two hours early. Being from NY, hotels and inns arenít exactly ecstatic when you arrive early, or late for that matter. But this was certainly not an issue here. We walked into the beautiful foyer, which was nothing less than stunning and we were warmly greeted by Amanda who even though the rooms were not quite ready yet, showed us where we would be staying and helped bring our bags to our rooms. We stepped out for a bit to explore the surrounding area and upon returning were greeted by the owner himself, Marston, who welcomed us and very enthusiastically answered every question my boyfriendís mother asked, from the tapestries, to the paintings, to the history of the home. She was so overwhelmed with the house, that she did actually ask him to stay forever. Everything about Christopher place was exquisite. The dinner prepared by the chef, Karen Valentine was incredible, and Marston himself served us. In truth Iím embarrassed to say I had nearly passed it by to get dinner outside of the inn. When I am in the area again, I will most certainly be dining here. For breakfast, Amanda prepared us a full breakfast of berry parfait, pancakes, eggs and sausage in the picturesque breakfast room. The rooms were perfect; clean, large and fitted with the most comfortable linens and beautiful antiques. There were ladybugs on the windows, but considering that we are in Smoky Mountains, I would be shocked if there werenít. They were certainly not something to complain about from our point of view. Everything about the inn was wonderful. As a New Yorker I was shocked by the price, at home the prices would have been quadrupled. I will recommend Christopher Place to everyone, and can guarantee we will be making this a Christmas tradition. Thank you to Marston and his incredible staff.

My wife and I have stayed at Christopher Place twice. I consider this wonderful place the beginning of our second chance. We were having some problems with our marriage and after staying there everything was renewed. It's been a few years since our last stay but we are always thinking about our visits to Christopher Place. The rooms are incredible and the staff is amazing. Anyone looking for the perfect romantic weekend getaway, look no further! A visit to Christopher Place is worth the travel time and money! Oh and by the way, we now have a beautiful 3 month old baby boy! Thank you Christopher Place!

Romantic - Love comes Softly

My husband and I spend a quiet romantic weekend at Christopher Place-An Intimate Resort. Our reason for choosing Christopher Place was the personal reviews we had heard from our friends and the location atop Newport, Tennessee's English Mountain.Christopher Place definitely more than met our expectations. Our stay included a beautiful tray of fruit, cheese and chocolate when we arrived! We enjoyed very quiet romantic dinners prepared by the Christopher Place's chef and staff. Our meals included seafood, steak, fresh vegetables and the most decadent cheesecakes and creme brulee's we had ever tasted! We slept peacefully without noise or interruptions. The grounds of Christopher Place are breath taking! We will definatley be returning to Christopher Place!

An awesome place..beautiful in any season but autumn is breathtaking..from the minute you enter onto this estate and experience the suites, the exquisite menu and true southern hospitality, when your departure time arrives...you will take away priceless memories..but a piece of your heart will linger there. The B&B's we stayed at while visiting Europe have nothing on this place. The Swiss Alps are awesome..but the view from this top balcony is one the best views of the Appalachian/Great Smoky Mtns. ranges in this area. My sister rented the whole B&B for our nieces wedding (from a Friday evening to Monday morning) and NO-ONE had any complaints.

Romantic and Peaceful

We stay at the Inn whenever we come to Newport to visit. When we first moved to TN, the mansion was empty and falling apart so we were happy to see it turned into a B&B. We supported it in every way and we frequently ate dinner there -- Chef Karen Valentine is still there and better than ever! We SO enjoy the atmosphere, the scenery, and wonderful breakfasts and dinners, and the overall ambiance. My husband and I enjoy playing pool in the game room and that's about as romantic as this old married couple get! This is a GREAT place for couples of all types and ages, honeymooners and old married folks like us! Come see for yourself!

InnSide Tip - Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge close by
Stay here instead of the more touristy Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge hotels - you'll enjoy getting away from all the activity in those other towns. You can enter the Smoky Mountains via nearby Cosby, too, if hiking and the outdoors is your thing. The Inn people will suggest hiking trails for you. Explore Newport, too, and don't let the Outsider's Inn TV show scare you away! I lived in Newport for 11 years and loved it and I come back frequently to visit friends and nearly always stay here.

Romantic Recollections

My husband and I first visited Christoper Place in the summer of 2002. Sadly and suddenly, he passed away in December after our trip. We were thrilled when we went there with the beauty and intimacy of the inn. We felt as though we owned the place and were afforded much privacy, yet when service was needed it magically appeared in the most inconspicuous way. The staff is friendly and helpful, yet discreet. This past January I finally thought I could emotionally handle another visit and I went alone. While I thought I would be overwhelmed by feelings of sadness, nothing could be further from that. The beautiful setting and first class dining provided just the perfect atmosphere to remember wonderful times. Go there with someone you love and you will see what I mean. You will create lifetime memories of a beautiful place and time.

Great Southern Inn

Wonderful location in the center of Florence- an easy walk anywhere. Staff was great- very welcoming and friendly. We had a lovely room. Our dinner was very romantic in the small dining room. Dinner fare was local and fresh and very creative. There was a nice breakfast of cereal, rolls, jam, juice, milk, coffee, biscuits, etc. It was lovely to eat breakfast with other friendly travellers from all over. We very much enjoyed our visit and would certainly stay here again on a future trip!

Romantic Escape

My husband and I celebrated our honeymoon and our 1st anniversary at Christopher Place. The views are absolutely breathtaking, the rooms are truly beautiful, the staff is the epitome of southern hospitality, and the food is unbelievable! On the last day of our honeymoon three years ago, we already decided we were coming back to celebrate our 5th anniversary...two more years to go and we can't wait to get back!

Romantic Intimacy requires Privacy

My husband and I have been married 27 yrs and have 3 children. Sometimes in our busy lives its hard to find privacy and therefore being romantic is extremely hard. We have chosen Christopher's Place 3 occasions to getaway. We have been totally pleased with our rooms. The decor brings out the natural instinct of being romantic. We love the beautiful hot tubs in the individual rooms. The setting of the mountains and quietness bring out the intimacy and love we share. The dining room is beautiful and the food was out-standing. Thank you for providing a beautiful place to making lifelong memories.

Romantic Honeymoon

It was absolutely perfect. The luxurious, but unpretentious surroundings, and the view of the Smoky Mountains was wonderful. Our every need was attended to by an almost invisible staff giving us the feeling of having the place to ourselves. It was the perfect setting for our honeymoon. Lynn R.

Most Relaxing & Beautiful Getaway

My husband and I stayed at Christopher Place a couple of years ago in the spring. We try to have a special getaway a couple times each year w/out our children. Christopher Place is, by far, the most relaxing and beautiful place we have ever stayed. Everything from the food to the accomodations was superb!!! We could not have asked for a better romatic getaway. We chose the three night getaway...next time I want four!!!

Romantic Reflections

My husband and I have been married 41 years. For the past four years we have made Christopher Place a must stay! We have stayed in a different bedroom suite each time. The breath taking views; friendly staff; romantic evening meals; and hikes in the woods are memories we shall cherish forever.

InnSide Tip -
During our last stay at Christopher Place, we requested a picnic basket for a day of exploring. The basket was equiped with everything we needed. We spread the plaid blanket on large rock in the woods and enjoyed a wonderful, romatic meal for two. (The food was delicious!)

Romantic and Wonderful

My husband and I stayed in the Tounament of Roses suite in September and it was truly an experience we will never forget. The scenery of the Smokey Mountains takes your breath away no matter what time of the day it is. Sit on the porch with a cup of coffee and watch the sun come up and smell the delights of breakfast being cooked and then be treated like royalty by the cooks and staff there. The food is the best I have ever eaten. Service is beyond incredible, Amanda sees to every tiny detail. So much to do, go for swim, play a game of 8 ball, go for a long romantic walk, cuddle by the fireplace. It's all there! I highly recommend the dinners there, the food is magnicent, cozy, romantic candlelit dinner for two, wine, great food and fabulous desserts...it just can't get any better...but it does!

This B&B is more than romantic. My husband & I were married here and spent part of our honeymoon there. It was very Romantic, and the views are beautiful! The food and service is terrific too. The rooms are very elegantly decorated. We have stayed at several B&Bs and this one is by far the best we have ever been too!! We give it 5 stars! Heather & BJ Goble

Romantic

Christopher's place is the perfect, peaceful, private, most romantic getaway my husband and I have been to yet. We spent our 10th Wedding Anniversary there because we wanted to be able to get away, reconnect and enjoy the surroundings. The staff (including the the owner), the food, the room and scenery was absolutely wonderful! There was always someone available if you needed anything, but gave you your privacy at the same time. Our stay was so perfect we told our daughter that we could see her getting married there someday. We can't wait to come back! Thank you for making our special weekend a very memorable one!

My wife and I chose Christopher Place as part of our honeymoon plans and it was perfect. We ate breakfast every morning and chose to eat dinner twice and each time was an incredible experience. We received personal attention from the owner and chef, and the quality of the meals was exactly what you'd expect from an upscale B&B. Location was perfect because it was close enough to things we wanted to do, but remote enough to escape the rest of the world. Our room was excellent and included it's own private entry, a wood burning fireplace, an indoor jacuzzi, and luxurious bath robes. We will be going back in the spring and look forward to our stay.

Have been to many B&Bs. This is a wonderful peaceful relaxing romantic place. Pretty much like if you borrowed a very rich Aunt's country getaway for a weekend. So clean and restful, so inspiring. Perfect place for a first honeymoon, and for a seco0nd, and a third...

Romantic Weekend Ahead

My husband and I stayed here for our 5th Anniversary this summer. We enjoyed every moment of it. The staff paid such careful attention to every detail of our stay. Cannot brag enough on the food. We enjoyed hiking in the Smokies and drove to Asheville to visit the Biltmore. Highly recommend a tray of chocolate dipped strawberries to top off your stay!

Romantic Wedding

I was married at Christopher Place in 2005 and wake up to my wonderful memories each day as I am surrounded by pictures in my bedroom. The romantic setting with wonderful mountains, the full moon on a clear evening, the family & friends, and most important the wonderful staff at Christopher Place. They partnered with us to ensure our Romantic Wedding was one no one will forget!
