Circa 1805. Acclaimed by Architectural Digest and overlooking the White Mountain forest, this unusual Mississippi Steamboat-style inn is near Kezar Lake. Oriental rugs atop original wood floors and a variety of antiques decorate the rooms. A full country breakfast featuring Maine blueberries gathered by the innkeeper is served year-round in dishes such as blueberry cinnamon pancakes. New England Travel Guide listed the Center Lovell Inn as offering the best country inn dinner. Popular activities are hiking, boating, fishing and cycling along country lanes. In winter, guests can leave from the inn to 600 miles of trails for cross-country skiing and snowmobiling. A private land trust nearby also offers seven miles of trails for snowshoeing and skiing. It's 20-30 minutes to several major downhill ski areas.
