Circa 1903. Diamond-paned windows, gables, a wraparound porch with a swing for two and stained glass enhance the exterior of this handsome three-story Tudor Revival home in the National Register. Located in what was once referred to as the "Silk Stocking District," the home was built by the town's mayor. Arched doorways, Tiffany chandeliers, a glorious open staircase, maple floors and oak woodwork set the atmosphere. There's a library, a formal dining room and a parlor with fireplace and window seat. Request the Noah P. Ward room and enjoy the king-size bed and double whirlpool with mood lights for a special celebration. Wake to the aroma of freshly baked caramel rolls, scones or cinnamon buns. Entrees of sausage and quiche are favorites. In the evening, enjoy watching the sunset over Lake Winona. Private hiking trails are available for guests or enjoy a day of lake activities, shopping, antiquing or horseback riding.
