Circa 1850. Just 50 feet from the water, at the tip of Cape Cod, this Colonial mansion stands on a meticulously landscaped acre of land that includes lighted decks and boardwalks, a private courtyard and an enclosed porch. The spacious inn has 12 guest bedrooms including one suite, all decorated with period antiques. Guests enjoy an extensive continental breakfast in the French country kitchen. The menu varies and includes items such as fresh muffins, croissants, scones, cakes, cereal, berries, juices, fruits and yogurts. Chilled mineral water, juices and sodas are available all day, as are excellent teas and coffees. After breakfast, guests can enjoy the beautiful grounds, the library, sauna or common rooms with fireplaces. A covered front porch is sunny all afternoon. The guest office with Internet access is a perfect place to work for a few minutes, or better yet, to send an e-mail to a friend. Provincetown itself is on a sandbank surrounded by beaches and sand dunes. It's full of traditional New England churches, historic captain's houses and cottages, and offers theater, antiquing, museums, art galleries, parks, beaches and all manner of water sports.
