About Our Rooms
Harry Kemp Room
The smallest room in our house, but one of our guests' favorites, is especially great for single travelers. This quaint and intimate accommodation with a full-size bed and private bath is done in a shade of blue, with exposed beams, rustic furniture, and little nautical touches to give it a real Cape Cod feel.
Eugene ONeill Room
Cheerful yellow colors, European style softwood furniture and lovely bay windows that fill the place with lots of natural light give this room a unique feel of warmth and charm. Soft cushions in the alcove offer a beautiful seat to enjoy the morning sun or dream away while watching the life on Johnson Street.
Tennessee Williams Room
Originally the front parlor of the old Second Empire house, the Tennessee Williams Room is nowadays an excellent accommodation for guests who like to see what is going on outside. The large bay windows facing Johnson Street give plenty of natural light and fresh air. We are sure the poet would have loved to sit on the windowsill and watch the men parade the street.
Heinrich Heine Room
Two mansard windows fill this room with ample sunlight. In the winter the barren trees on Johnson Street allow for some limited views of Provincetown's scenic harbor, which can especially be beautiful at sunrise. A walnut wood slay bed, antique prints from Heine's hometown Düsseldorf and other artifacts commemorating the poet complete this typical German Schlafzimmer.
Rainer Rilke Room
A combination of rich wallpaper and sand colored walls, cherry wood furniture and its overall florid style make this room the one that is the most typical for a "New England" guesthouse. Located on the west side of the main house, it remains shadier in the mornings, perfect for those who feel like sleeping in a bit.
Dorothy Parker Room
Decorated in smooth cream colors that blend well with the floral design of the wallpaper, the Dorothy Parker Room represents a more feminine style within the guesthouse. Pine and wicker furniture, a large gilded mirror and the only bath tub in the main house make this room a tasteful accommodation.
Emily Dickinson Room
The smallest and coziest of our classic rooms does not face out on any streets and is therefore among the quietest accommodations in the main house. Decorated in a mix of floral wallpaper and ivory tones it features windows on two sides, bringing in a lot of natural light, and giving a perfect view of the Pilgrim Monument which can be quite dramatic at sunset.
William Shakespeare Room
This large room has vaulted ceilings and windows on three sides providing wonderful views of our garden patio as well as the Pilgrim Monument. There is a queen-size four poster bed and a comfortable sitting area with two armchairs in front of a gas Franklin Stove that gives the room the cozy ambiance of those good old days passed.
Robert Frost Room
Three floor to ceiling windows provide for warm sunlight and comfortable summer cross breezes. Vaulted ceilings emphasize the airy and spacious feel of this room. The large private mahogany deck will introduce you to an example of German ingenuity: An original "Strandkorb", a wicker beach chair that lets you enjoy the outdoors even on windy days in spring or fall.
Oscar Wilde Room
Windows on three sides bathe the room in sunlight, and bring in wonderful summer cross breezes. Because of the openness towards the outdoors and the leafy surroundings of the neighborhood backyards, guests once dubbed it "the tree house". Vaulted ceilings, a queen-size canopy bed and a private balcony facing the gardens and the Pilgrim Monument make this nickname even more appropriate
George Sand Room
Wood floors, rustic hand crafted furniture, and a sunlit sitting area are the highlights of this room. The wrought iron bed and a charming Provençale fireplace add to the atmosphere of a French country house chamber. With its centrally located private deck, the proximity to the common area and Namasté Spa, this room is especially suited for people who like to socialize and meet new friends.
Csar Moro Room
Enjoy the warmth of a South American interior in this comfortable and cheerful bedroom, harmoniously decorated with artful tiles and painted in bright sunny colors. The room is centrally located right off the common room and features a spacious private bath, as well as a Spanish-style fireplace.
James Baldwin Room
Its beautiful vaulted ceilings, and the dormer windows with their attractive plantation shutters that filter the sunlight, could make this room the perfect backdrop for a screening of "Giovanni's Room", one of Baldwin's most famous novels. In the summertime you can soak up the Provincetown sun on the private deck and enjoy the views of our garden patio and the Namasté Spa.
Ruan Ji Room
This amazing room is, along with the Raj Rao Room, one of our most extravagant accommodations. Tastefully decorated with Chinese antiques, the Ruan Ji Room reflects the style of a traditional Siheyuan. Similar to this ancient house type, the bedroom opens up to the courtyard with its water features and Asian style furniture to where the impressive old Chinese gate leads to the nearby Namasté Spa.
R Raj Rao Room
This beautiful room is lavishly decorated with Indian antiques and crafts. The luxurious cushions and silky blankets of the king-sized four-poster bed will make you dream of Far Eastern splendor and beauty while the Hindu God Ganesha is watching over your sleep. The outside patio overlooks our elegant Asian garden and is a perfect place to enjoy breakfast on a beautiful summer morning.
Stanley Kunitz Room
The mansard roof ceiling, a cozy sitting area, a soft, fluffy bed and the only full kitchen in any of the guestrooms, give this little appartment an "at home" feel. The small balcony overlooking our patio and our Namasté Spa adds to the charm. Beautiful dormer windows guarantee sunlight all day.
Marcel Proust Room
From the moment you enter this elegant room from its charming private garden area, you will feel like you are getting the red carpet treatment: A cozy fireplace welcomes you, the stylish elegant bed in front of a large mirror invites you to afternoon naps or more and the classy bathroom with Jacuzzi tub promises pampering hours in your own bubble bath.
Just come in!
Jean Cocteau Room
Tucked away in the most quiet part of the guesthouse lies the Jean Cocteau Suite, a perfect hideaway for those who are looking for privacy and some intimate moments. The wide-planked wooden floors, the French-countryside pine furniture and the sunny yellow color of this room gives it that special "air provençale" that would have pleased the poet so much.
The Thoreau Cottage
is the largest and most luxurious room in our guesthouse. Separate from the rest of the buildings and located adjacent to the Namasté Spa, the cottage features a large bathroom with a double jacuzzi and a comfortable sitting area in front of a fireplace that warms the room on those cool, Cape Cod nights. The lovely bay window looks out onto our Asian Garden and the sliding-glass door leads to a private patio with mini-garden and fountain.
