Circa 1839. A white picket fence opens to an inviting estate on two manicured acres of English gardens and perfect lawns. Romantic accommodations offer lavishly decorated rooms with amenities such as four-poster canopy beds, fireplaces, and Jacuzzis located in all of the inn's historic buildings: the Carriage House, the Captain's Cottage, the Mansion or the magically transformed Stables. A favorite choice is the Lydia Harding Suite in the former stables. It offers two rooms with French doors opening to a balcony, two fireplaces, a lavish bath and several sitting areas. Afternoon tea and a deluxe gourmet breakfast is served in the dining room with views to the fountain and gardens. The innkeepers, one a native of Britain, also own a 16th-century coaching inn near Oxford and enjoy sharing their experiences and knowledge of both areas with their guests. Beach chairs, towels and coolers are available. Be sure to take advantage of the innkeepers excellent concierge services to maximize your experience while on the Cape.
