Circa 1912. A local attorney built this 1912 Colonial Revival home on the site of the town's first schoolhouse. The Cape Charles House is the recipient of the Governor's Award for Virginia Bed and Breakfast Hospitality. Oriental rugs cover lovingly restored hardwood floors. The owners have skillfully combined antiques, heirlooms, artwork, fabrics and collections. Spacious guest bedrooms are named after historically significant townspeople. The premier Julia Wilkins Room features a whirlpool tub/shower and balcony. Gourmet breakfasts served in the formal dining room may include favorites like fresh mango-stuffed croissants in an egg custard with grated nutmeg and orange liqueur. Enjoy late afternoon wine and cheese as well as tea and sweets. Visit the historic Victorian village and swim the quiet bay beach. Bikes, beach towels, chairs and umbrellas are available.
