Wedding weekend

We canceled our wedding because of comments made to us in the earlier spring of 2014. We were aware of the bankruptcy. She was very up front about that. The lack of proper licenses to hold events was not mentioned when we booked event, but alluded to in the spring which promoted me to check. She cannot give back our deposit even though she cannot fulfill our agreement because she says " I don't have the money". Do not use this so called "B&B".

Shabby, not Chic

I only wish that I had read other reviews before booking 3 nights at Canyon Ferry Mansion. We found the inn to be very cluttered and in need of housekeeping. Clutter and lack of housekeeping was just part of our experience. The owner, Sandy, left the inn after the first night of our stay. We were not issued keys for our rooms or to any entrances which left us and our belongings completely unsecured for 2 nights of our stay! If you like an inn with clutter, lack of cleaning, and no security, this is the place for you! I would never recommend this inn to anyone.

Ripped Off!

We planned to hold our wedding at the chapel at Canyon Ferry Mansion. The service from Sandy Rose was so horrific that we had to drop this place. We paid $4500 to Sandy and all we got was a hard time, high stress, and after two months of wrangling we finally got her to send our wedding invitations. We specified to her exactly what was to be printed on invitations, and when we got them in the mail we were shocked to see she added her own comments. One comment read: Wedding Attire: sporty wedding or court costume. We are trying to have a wedding, not a costume party! We were then frustrated when she started increasing our prices thousands more than what we were originally quoted. Unfortunately, Sandy told my fiance that she spent the $4500 we had given her for our wedding on her mortgage and various other household expenses. We are left to think that this explains why her prices were vastly increased. Since she spent the money on her bills, she didn't have anything left to pay vendors for the wedding. We asked for a refund and she stated she couldn't pay. Curious to see if we ever get anything back. I seriously doubt it. Based on our horrible experience, we will avoid Sandra Rose and Canyon Ferry Mansion like the plague. Forever! We advise you do the same!

Elopement

We are a couple in our 40's and this was not my first marriage, we wanted a simple elopement. Super awesome! Sandy took care of everything, Minister, bouquet, pics, hair, makeup, cake, unity candle, etc. Each meal was like 5 star restaurant and it wasn't weird at all staying at a BNB, which neither of us had done before. Beautiful Chapel and Mansion, makes for great pictures!

Horrible Experience

Room and chapel were covered in flies (dead in the room, alive in the chapel). Food was great. Billing issues still unresolved as credit card machine was down, sent checks that got cashed by owner, then she charged my card over 2 months after the wedding stating I didn't pay. After sending proof and contacting my bank, she has not responded in over 2 months to the complaint. Bank has found me to be accurate and has provided temporary refund, but still can't get a hold of owner.

Management Response
We are glad to hear our "Southern style food with Western Flair" was "great" ...especially during our 11th Anniversary Year! I should note, we are Montana's only private full service Wedding and Elopement Resort with both garden and chapel for services from 2 to 100 in the chapel and up to 300 in the Garden. The Chapel is open year round. And of course we are very concerned about bugs of any kind...an unfortunate nuisance. I will point out that Historic Buildings like our 1920 Wedding Chapel and our 1915 Mansion, once the home of Montana's last great Cattle Baron... do suffer in "Hereford Country" here in Central Montana, as the tall sunny windows and colored glass seem to attract flies, even requiring the daily labor intensive hauling of tall ladders, and swabbing window sills under layers of window decorative treatment throughout the Inn. These magical buildings, while adorable & quaint, are nearly impossible to make tight even with painstaking restoration and seem especially vulnerable during "round-up" and "calving season" to flies ... Housekeeping is required to vacumn them up daily and we do use safe aeresols monthly...it could be they missed on a busy day, but we will certainly bring it to their attention ao as not to happen again. I've attached a picture of the Chapel interior and the Cattle Baron Suite for your perusal. Yes, we had a credit card service that did accidently miss place our payments and then to "add insult to injury" re-charge a few customers again...when new hypercoms were installed. It was not at our end. We did notify the company that a check had been sent to replace the charge, however it was still not processed correctly at the service's end. Later after the customer notified us again, we were told by the service company that the problem was taken care of and credit made. The company sent us their apologies to us, and according to them...to the client as well. I have the letters on file. We are mortified to say the least, that this unfortunate issue may not have been resolved. Be assured if not, we will make sure it is rectified immediately. Obviously we are trying to find a new credit card service company...not an easy task in Montana. We are sending a $100 refund, and a FREE Deluxe Cattle Baron Anniversary Suite Gift Certificate valued at $295. in hopes this will remedy the client's inposition. Sincerely, Sandra P.
