Burntside Lodge
2755 Burntside Lodge RdEly, MN 55731-8402
Circa 1913. "Staying here is like taking a vacation 80 years ago," states innkeeper Lou LaMontagne. Families have come here for more than 80 years to enjoy the waterfront and woodside setting. The lodge and its cabins are in the National Register and much of the original hand-carved furnishings remain from the jazz age. Guests can choose from lodging in rustic cabins that date back to the 1920s, and there also are elegant, renovated cabins that include up to three bedrooms. Fishing, listening to the cry of the loon and boating around the lake's 125 islands are popular activities. Breakfast and dinner are available in the waterside dining room, and there is a lounge, espresso bar and gift shop. The lodge is open from mid-May through September.
