“Best Night's Stay on Earth”
Timothy DJacksonville, FL
Traveling is always tiring and inconvenient. However our 4 night stay at the Brewster Inn was exactly the opposite. Never before have we felt so at home away from home. Everything we needed was just a request away. We wanted a rhubard pie so the innkeeper went to Bangor and got us one. The fresh coffer along with good breakfast satisfied us in the morning. The quietness of the place allowed for a wonderful good nights sleep. We will definitely come back our next trip to Maine like coming home again!!

“Romantic Fireplace!”
Clarence & Lee Blanchard2/18/2011
In this day and age, it's difficult to find a safe fireplace. We totally enjoyed relaxing in front of the fireplace. I was reminded of my visit to Campobello, the historic feel was of the same era, but here we got to spend the night. Keep up the English / New England hospitality! Mark and Judith have remained in our thoughts, since we left the Inn.

“Our stay at the Brewster Inn”
Jannita Reiss8/11/2010
My husband and I have stayed at the Brewster Inn before, so it was an easy choice when I was looking for a place to spend a couple days with my daughter. Actually this was the second time I've come to the Brewster Inn with a daughter. We celebrate passage into the teen years with a Mother/Daughter Retreat. This was such an excellent place to do that because the rooms are beautiful and the atmosphere is relaxed. We had plenty of room to do our activities and loved the special "Hot Chocolate" treat we got in the evening. We also loved the breakfast and kind words from our hosts. We will definitely be back!

“European comfort, New England charm”
Gardner Images .comNashua, NH
8/6/2010
Earlier this week, I stayed in the Game Room in the Brewster Inn. This place is simply astounding. The rooms here are almost like an adventure unto themselves. They reflect generous amount of American history and New England charm, yet with modern amenities and an exquisitely European attention to detail. Mark the innkeeper has been very helpful and friendly.
This was a quick trip for me, but I want to return, and their outstanding room value is making it possible for me to return soon! I made reservations for my return trip on the way out the door, I am really looking forward to coming back.

InnSide Tip - Talk to Mark or Judith beforehand
All of their rooms are delightfully different. If you have anything that you want, need, or expect out of your room, be sure to talk to Mark or Judith beforehand so they can best accommodate your stay. I did, I was traveling on business and dropped Mark an e-mail detailing what I would need to do once I was there. His input helped turn an ordinary stay in to a phenomenal one.

“What a memorable experience”
Dyanna S6/30/2010
The hosts were incredible nice and made us feel very welcome, even offering to upgrade our room for free as soon as we arrived! The house is beautiful and great to explore. The rooms were spacious, clean and very comfortable. The price was also very affordable. I would definitely recommend staying here.

“Exceeded Our Expectations”
Renee Stephens6/25/2010
Our family spent a week at the Brewster Inn and couldn't say enough good things about the Inn and Innkeepers. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The food was delicious and a great variety to suit everyone's tastes. The common areas were comfortable and beckoned you to sit, visit, relax whether it was in the lovely living room, on the wonderful screened in porch or on one of the many benches scattered throughout the grounds and gardens. The gardens are beautiful, everywhere you look there's some new gem to behold. The innkeepers were very gracious and gave us lots of good information about the local area and ideas for activities. By the time we left, it felt like leaving home and friends. We're recommending the Brewster Inn to all our family and friends. We look forward to return trips in the years to come.

“Charm, History & Beauty”
Tina H6/23/2010
The Brewster Inn is a magnificent gem that I was so lucky to have found. It is full of charm, history and beauty. You can't help but fall in love and never want to go home. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The robes are heavenly. Breakfast is always satisfying and tasty with a large variety to choose from. The Caramel French Toast a friend of the owners made was decadent and delicious. The gardens and lawn are so nice to stroll through. The porch/patio areas invite you to sit and relax as does the wonderful furniture in the living room. Visit once and you'll be sure to visit for years to come. I know I certainly will.

“Treasured Gem- Brewster Inn”
Tina H3/11/2010
The Inn is beautiful, full of charm and history. The owners are wonderful, accomodating, and by time you leave you feel as if you're leaving old friends. Can't wait to visit this summer and see the grounds in full bloom and explore more of the Inn. I'd encourage everyone to stay at the Brewster Inn. Stay once and you're guaranteed to be repeat visitors. The owners ensure you have everything you need, or want. The pictures from the weddings that have been held at the Inn make me yearn to get married all over again and I'm looking forward to my next wedding being there.

“Celebration of life”
Kim & Cindy Wiles11/30/2009
My wife and I went to Dexter to attend a celebration of life for a dear friend of ours . Her husband had chosen the Brewster Inn to hold this celebration and had also had a room held for my wife and I to stay in . This was the first time we had ever attended a celebration of life and also to stay at a bed & breakfast. We enjoyed both. The celebration was a great send off for our dear friend and the Inn was a perfect place to hold it . We stayed overnight in the honeymoon suite and found it warm and cozy. Mark and his wife were perfect attendants, there to help but not under foot. We are also hoping to maybe go back to the Inn this winter to snowmobile as the trail almost runs right next to the Inn and the area just looks inviting . This was a great place to stay and
I would and will tell my friends about it. Thank you Mark and Judith. Kim & Cindy Wiles Kingston N.H.

“11 Days of Central Maine Inn with character!”
stuart toddGUISBOROUGH UK,
11/5/2009
My wife and I from the UK decided on a 2-week Flydrive "Fall Leaves" trip to Maine to coincide with my retirement. Moving between hotels on a daily basis lost its appeal. I found the "Dexter Inn" on line and realised it was in easy travel distance of both the coast and mountains. The room charges were also very reasonable compared to major hotels. We stayed for 11 nights! Mark and Judith are perfect hosts and gave us guidance on destinations. We just had one of the most perfect vacations ever. Thanks to both of you and ALL the friendly people in both Dexter and Maine itself. Stuart & Marlene.

“1st B&B VISIT”
Jan & Bill WalshWakefield,
10/15/2009
10/12/09
Dear Judith and Mark
We arrived at the Brewster Inn at 3pm on Thursday October 1st Jan’s birthday.
We were enthusiastically greeted by Mark and Judith. It was our very first visit to a Bread and Breakfast and was placed in the Hideaway Room. It was very helpful to be given a B&B guidebook which gave us the history of the Brewster Inn and the names of the restaurants for lunch and dinner. Mark also gave us a tour of the Inn. We the went out to see in my aunt was at home (in Dexter). We went out to dinner. It was such a wonderful feeling being with Bill on our first vacation in three years.
The room featured a great futon which had a lovely and comfy blue Quilt. We cuddled in the comforter and I watched TV and Bill read. It was a pleasant experience getting into a most comfortable bed and able to sleep until after 7a.m. (Usually) Bill is up and on the 6am bus). We were pleasantly surprised to arrive in the dining room with a bountiful buffet which included English muffins, bagels, French toast, oatmeal, fruit and tea and coffee.
After breakfast Mark gave us excellent directions to Moosehead Lake Greenville, Me. He also recommended some places to shop at and to look for advice from the Visitor Center who was gracious and recommended a car ride route. We did some shopping in the local stores and the rode around in the area tacking some nice photos (one we send to the local paper for publications).
On the way home we got sandwiches at subway and stopped to visit my wife’s aunt who just celebrated her 88th birthday.
I would highly recommend a stay at the Brewster Inn. Mark and Judith showed us their hospitality with a wonderful stay. We will definitely recommend the Brewster Inn to our friend and family
We look forward to a return visit next year.
Sincerely Jan & Bill Walsh of Wakefield

“Romantic and Enchanting”
Michael & Brenda Weigle10/5/2009
What a slice of heaven in the middle of Maine where you can just relax and unwind or you can be at the coast or the lakes and mountains in no time at all.
We loved our very large and private honeymoon suite. The two-person whirlpool tub was a most inviting feature at the end of a long day of exploring.
The Brewster Inn is full of American history. We particularly loved the preservation of the Inn by our most gracious Innkeepers, Mark and Judith. It is awesome to know that you are staying where President Harry Truman once stayed!! Their very interesting and unique story about their purchase of the Inn was so touching.
Mark and Judith seem to ancipate your every need and go beyond any expectations you may have.
We hope to return to the Inn next year. It will feel like we are "coming home." The service and accommodations were excellent, the location is perfect for exploring all of Maine and the friendship we made with Mark and Judith will be treasured.

“Perfect Place for a Weekend Away!”
Debby Palleschi9/21/2009
My husband and I were fortunate enough to enjoy the quaint allure of the Brewster Inn a couple of weeks ago.
My roommate from college had her wedding on the grounds (beautifully magical!) and all of our closest friends from school stayed at the inn. It was the perfect place for a long-awaited reunion.
Mark and Judith, the innkeepers, were excellent hosts. Breakfast was tasty and filling, and the history off the inn alone was worth the visit.
We would highly recommend a stay at the Brewster Inn. The rooms are cozy and charming, and the grounds of the inn are lovely. A visit to Maine at any time during the year is a treat, and the Brewster Inn is the perfect place to experience it.

“Amazingly Fun and Romantic Weekend!”
Marissa Taylor9/15/2009
We had such a lovely time at the Brewster Inn! The owners (Mark and Judith)were both fun and accomodating and provided us with a wonderful atmosphere for our part reunion part wedding celebration weekend. We stayed in the Game Room which provided a lovely space for us to gather with friends between our scheduled events of the weekend. The room also gave my husband and I plenty of space to cozy up at nights end. The history is abundant at the Brewster Inn as well and we can't wait to go again and learn more!

“Lovely Stay”
Lei A8/31/2009
The Brewster Inn was an old governor's home with lot of character that has been converted to a bed and breakfast. I stayed at the smallest room on the property, the Strawberry, but it was very comfortable and had everything I needed. The proprietors, Mark and Judith are very warm and hospitable, so much so that I felt like we were old friends by the time I left!

“unplanned delight!”
nancy harrisonLyman, ME
8/27/2009
We were off on our first kid-free vacation in 14 years, we had no reservations and were pleasantly surprised with the Brewster Inn. My husband is not a big fan of B&B's but agreed to stay at my request. We had a marvelous time, the hosts were gracious and the inn was beautiful, he wants to go back! Breakfast and our walk through the gardens were a great start to our day. We got well rested and enjoyed our time and the history of the place.

“Picture Perfect Wedding”
Sherrie DoyonWinthrop, ME
8/26/2009
While searching the internet in March 2009, our daughter found the Brewster Inn in Dexter, Maine and began touring the website. She had opted for a GARDEN THEME in the summer months with a cello and violinist playing the music among the flowers and gardens. She didn't want the guests to have to drive to another reception location but wanted a place where they could go from their seats into the reception under a large tent with tables decorated in linens and fresh roses. We found this setting with the Brewster Inn in Dexter. To make the wedding picture perfect, the innkeeper, Mark, asked us if she would like to be brought to the inn by Horse and carriage. That was the other piece that gave us the perfect "Storybook" wedding for our daughter. Mark and Judith gave us several names of local talent and businesses that gave us exceptional service and prices for the wedding. The rooms were clean and quaint with that historical decor to them. The beds were comfortable. The food was delicious. All of the out of town guests were able to stay at the inn for very reasonable prices and the innkeepers were always there with a helping hand and a friendly smile. They opened up their parlor and their dining room for the rehearsal dinner and party the night before the wedding and everyone had a wonderful stay. If you desire a picturesque inn, in the heart of Maine, with wonderful hosts and reasonable costs, I would highly recommend this inn. Your guests will be talking about it for many years to come and it will be a wedding that you only find in storybooks. Thank you Judith and Mark! 8-26-2009 Moe and Sherrie

“Brewster Inn- Amazing Stay”
Lauren Wing8/19/2009
The Brewster Inn at Dexter was amazing, every aspect of our experience was excellent. Mark and Judith are remarkable in their dedication and service to the local community. Their greeting was warm and friendly- as if old friends. The Inn was clean, excellent home cooked breakfast with remarkable hospitality above and beyond anything we've ever experienced ( and we travel often ). They are professional and very comforting- an experience you must not miss in Dexter. Thank you Mark and Judith

Publicity and Press Reviews
Bangor Daily News, People, Places & Plants, Portland Press Herald, Sunday Maine, Telegram, Portland magazine, Birds and Blooms, HGTV "If Walls Could Talk", The Brewster Inn is on the National Register of Historic Places and is a former Maine Governor and Government Senators family home. If you ever saw the the 5 x Oscar award winning film "The Aviator" starring Leonardo De Caprio as Howard Hughes then you will of seen Alan Alda from MASH playing the Senator that was in charge of the Government task force that tried to bring Howard Hughes down. In that film Alan Alda played Senator and also Governor Ralph Owen Brewster and its his home we have so its pretty historic
Our home was shown on TV across the USA on HGTV in June 2008 on "If Walls Could Talk" and has been replayed numerous times since then.
Presidents Truman and Taft, 7 Senators that we're aware of and Louis B Mayer founder of MGM Films have all been and stayed here. The house was remodeled in 1934 by Maine and quite possibly New Englands most famous architect John Calvin Stevens.
