Mixed Reviews but Not Recommended

Everyone has heard the saying "you get what you pay for". This is a beautiful location and for the price it is a bargain. Here are a few of the draw-backs: the owner seems to be disorganized and sometimes doesn't do what she promises; the house isn't the cleanest inside and there is mold in the bathrooms; it is also not handicapped accessible. Overall, I would not recommend staying here because the drawbacks outweigh the positives.

Disapointed

Heard so much about this and was xcited to go ~ cleanliness was not so good actually ~ to be constructive the retreat should have a deep cleaning each time guests vacate and it is sad especially when you see mold growing in various locations not healthy atmosphere and not intended for anyone that cannot climb steps at all...

Not Coming Back

It's a beautiful location, but I won't be coming back. First off, I have knee problems and stairs are very difficult for me. The building is not handicap-accessible. Also, after I arrived, I started sniffling. By the morning, I had a terrible headache and was constantly blowing my nose. I thought I must have caught a cold, but one of the other girls showed me mold in her bathroom, so I decided to leave early. Within an hour of leaving, my "cold" was miraculously gone!

I Keep Coming Back!

I held my first retreat here 5 years ago and have a dozen since then. The place has felt like home from the start and Beth, the owner, is very gracious. The food is always delicious and she greatly accommodates all the demand of the attendees. The location offers peace and quiet that is rare these days. Plenty of walking/hiking available. While there are stairs to enter the building, there are rooms on the main floor so those who have had issues have had little or no problem coming and going. We will keep coming back as long as she will have us!

Return Again & Again

I have enjoyed several stays at the Blue Mountain Retreat Center. To me the draw is that it's a home away from home. The rooms are fresh and clean, bathrooms sparkle. But the big draw is the care, attention and cooking by the owner, Beth. Lunch and dinner is better than a home cooked meal with fresh organic ingredients. Beth will go out of her way to cater to any and all dietary restrictions. I will have my 4th retreat at Blue Mountain nd many of the participants eagerly return each time for the tangible and intangible amenities of Blue Mountain. It does have handicap accessibility issues but I cannot think of any other reason not to stay at Blue Mountain.

A Special Place

I have been to Blue Mountain about 20 times and plan to continue. While it may not be handicapped accessible, the positives far outweigh this. First, the owner grows her own organic vegetables and fruit. The meals are not only delicious, they are super healthy. She can accommodate people with food restrictions (allergies, gluten free, etc.) The facilities are cozy and easily hold a group of 20 guests or more. The owner is also a licensed massage therapist and will give give the most incredible massages! The grounds are beautiful and you can see deer, foxes, many birds, and other creatures showing up regularly. This is a place that aims to please and you cannot beat the price. Highly recommended!

can't wait to get back there

I have stayed at Blue Mtn Retreat Ctr twice within the last year and thoroughly enjoyed my time there. The owner, Beth was more than accommodating and the food was AMAZING. Despite major dietary restrictions within my group, she was able to provide a fantastic spread of food for each meal featuring fresh, local ingredients. It's not the Ritz-Carlton (shared bathrooms and twin beds), but it's the perfect retreat atmosphere. All of the facilities were exceptionally clean and welcoming. I liked it so much that I am actually booking a retreat here for spring 2015.

Warm and Welcoming

I have been on retreat here twice a year for the past 5 years. Personally, I have always found the place spotless and well cared for. The location is lovely and the food is delicious. It is a bit rustic and rooms are shared, but it is comfortable and homey feeling. I will definitely be back.

Peace and comfort

The owner, Beth is very accommodating and provided healthy and delicious meals for the entire group. She's also a LMT and I've had the best massage ever! The retreat is tucked away in a nice green surroundings, providing a very relaxing atmosphere. Great place for walking and hiking. I would highly recommend!

Great 'green' retreat center

I have been spending "retreat time" at the Blue Mountain Retreat Center for the past 10 (yes TEN) years at least TWICE a year... I leave one retreat and can't wait for the next...Beth is a wonderful, amazing woman who coordinates all the meals / and massages... she cooks ALL the meals personally and the food is ALWAYS great.... she cooks gluten free, vegetarian, vegan or whatever the group requests... she will also make special allergen free portions for those who notify her of their needs. Mold?? NEVER...this place sparkles when we come to retreat... Thank you Beth, for the fantastic opportunity to relax... stress free....and healthy eating..

Amazing place

I have been to Blue Mountain Retreat Center more than thirty times over the past five years. Each time I go I am amazed with the time and energy Beth, the owner, puts into the weekend. I have organized workshops here with twenty people in attendance, hosted scrapbooking weekends and family reunions. I find the house very comfortable and cozy, the grounds beautiful and the service incredible. Beth prepares delicious lunches and dinners made from vegetables from her garden. She prepares organic meals and can work around many allergies and food restrictions while still creating wonderful dishes. I never knew a gluten free cake could be so amazing! Beth also is a licensed massage therapist and every time I am there I get a massage. She is incredibly gifted and has done wonders to relieve sore muscles. The cost of these weekends are very reasonable especially considering the time and energy Beth puts into making us comfortable.
