Thank you for a wonderful weekend. Everything was perfect. This is an amazing place. The meals were wonderful and Wendi and Bruce were very gracious hosts. We will be recommending staying here to everyone we know.

We promised we would leave you a note, but it's hard to express in words how appreciative we are! Your hospitality is second to none and made this wedding unforgettable. Your meals, friendly smiles, and Wendi's amazing iPod mix made for a lot of memories. We will definitely be back, hopefully as soon as our birthdays in April. Thanks again for everything!

The discovery of your lovely Black Bear Inn was literally a life saver. On our 10th annual canoe trip with 10 people, I ruptured discs in my neck, so my husband brought me to this cozy haven after a 6am canoe crossing of Spicer, a visit to your family clinic, and the pharmacy - he left me in your comfortable Inn for the night. I was in a pain induced daze when I got here, and after a luxurious soak and a much needed nap, I'm on the road to recovery.

Thank you for helping to make our 36th wedding anniversary a wonderful memory. We would highly recommend this B&B to anyone. Wendi and Bruce, you were meant to do this - we wish you the very best and hope to see you again.

It seems that everything wonderful about this wonderful place has already been covered in this book by the previous guests... We've been traveling for two weeks - have stayed in everything from Air Force lodge, Inns, to 5-star hotels and the Black Bear Inn is by far our favorite. What a perfect way to end a vacation. Wendi and Bruce made us feel right at home. The dinner and breakfast were fabulous. The grounds are beautiful and the stay was so relaxing and peaceful. We will definitely be back.

The wife and I came for two nights and we had a relaxing, wonderful time. Saw Alan Jackson on Friday night and relaxed the balance of the weekend. We stayed last night in the beautiful Calaveras Room, here at the Black Bear Inn. We were celebrating my birthday with a short retreat. Thank you for the card, and for welcoming us. After getting settled, we enjoyed a yummy dinner in town. Later, we relaxed in the hot tub. We were spied on by an adorable raccoon. Breakfast this morning was amazing. Thank you for everything.

What a wonderful place you have! We saw Faith Hill at Ironstone on the way here last night. Today we visited Mercer Caverns, which was the absolute best place to be on a 95 degree day. The heat forced us up the road to beautiful Lake Alpine. The end of the day brought us to a great restaurant for dinner. We relaxed in our room surrounded by the jazz concert sounds on the other side of the trees. Our only regret is that we didn't bring swimsuits for the hot tub, and we can't stay longer. You are the best!

What a slice of heaven this wonderful Inn is! I feel so blessed to have celebrated my 33rd anniversary of my 29th year here. This by far was the best birthday EVER! So many thoughtful touches! In our beautiful room was a birthday card awaiting me. For my birthday dinner, Bruce prepared filet mignon that just melted in your mouth... dessert by Wendi was a heavenly individual lemon cheesecake. All this set up in the backyard with soft music playing and candle light. Topped off by some time in the hot tub! Wendi made a personalized menu, with "Happy Birthday Sandie" at the top; it beautifully described each dish we were to have. We had the backyard to ourselves and enjoyed the delicious dinner and music. It could NOT have been more special. I will cherish it always. Our two breakfasts were heavenly also! Blueberry pancakes one day and Bruce's specialty French toast today. Right now I'm sitting outside our room and am counting my blessings! These two days with my honey, these gorgeous mountains and Inn. Topped off with delicious and beautifully presented food, and two of the most thoughtful, kind hearted, creative owners.

The perfect place for a much needed respite. A first class Inn - in a friendly, beautiful town. Black Bear Inn has all the trimmings. Wendi and Bruce are a delightful and talented young couple. The food, specially prepared, and thoughtfully displayed, was healthy and plentiful. Thank you both for an experience we will cherish.

This is our second visit to the Black Bear Inn and the first after the remodel. As we expected, the Black Bear Inn does not disappoint. The colors, fabrics, and atmosphere are warm, inviting, and luxurious. The breakfasts also are a treat, with Bruce's gourmet approach and presentation, you can't wait for night to fall just so you can get up for breakfast! We always arrive on our motorcycle, so the jacuzzi is a welcome pleasure and relief! We look forward to staying with Wendi & Bruce again

The most pleasant present for us is having found that we come from Barcelona, Spain and there are such wonderful people in the USA!

We came here to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary on August 21; but we also celebrated our 1st grandchild: Elodie Ann born today. Two wonderful events! Bruce, you must be one of the last renaissance men: great skills & talents, wonderful landscaper, caretaker with interesting hobbies. Keep up the great work! We had a wonderful time with great food, advice, and comfort. Thanks so much Wendi & Bruce! We look forward to returning and will tell everyone we know about your wonderful place!

Fabulous, awesome, restorative, peaceful, over-the-top dinner, for a quick weekend get-away you have given us a year's worth of stress therapy! We look forward to sharing this experience with other family members in September. Take care of each other so we can continue to enjoy this magical collaboration. We'll always remember the dinner!

We were sitting outside the room last night... watching a splendid full moon until 10:30. What a wonderful and peaceful place to relax completely. We have been coming here for years and will continue to do so!

Tonight is our last night at Black Bear Inn and I don't want to leave. This was our first trip to Arnold and Murphys, and our first B&B, though it feels more like a spa than a B&B. The owners, Wendi and Bruce, are the nicest couple and their attention to detail in the way they decorated the Inn, the breakfasts that Bruce prepares and the wine & cheese, and even the great quality shampoo that leaves your hair silky, are worth every penny to stay here. Wendi even recommended a local masseuse so I could get a massage, and even made the reservation. Bruce made dinner reservations for us at Tallahan's. They truly love what they do and it is reflected in the first class service. We love this place and are extremely impressed and will stay again. We've fallen in love with Arnold and the Black Bear Inn.

This is our 1st B&B. We just made reservations to stay here again in a month - the same room :) That said, WOW! This place is "the Ritz." Wendi & Bruce... AWESOME, in every way. Where do I start from there? We were welcomed like family, waited on hand and foot, and it was made known, if we had any need, any time: they were immediately on it!! Great attention to detail from the decor to the food on our plates. Oh and the food - whoa! Beautiful and totally delicious! Loved the tub. The bed was heavenly. Spent lots of time on the hammock. Soooo relaxing, romantic, peaceful, warm... There's so much more... words cannot describe. Thank you Wendi & Bruce so much!

Unfortunately today is check out day and we don't want to leave this beautiful, relaxing Inn! our stay has been absolutely wonderful! The room was perfect, the garden and woods are beautiful and the breakfast was beyond delicious! Thank you Wendi and Bruce for your hospitality, warmth and friendliness. We will definitely come back, but next time we'll bring family to share in the great experience.

Just when I thought all the nice people were no longer in existence, I walked into the Black Bear Inn. Wendi & Bruce are the nicest, most precious, two people I have met in a very long time. The Inn is so beautiful from the garden and woods to the room... The bed is to die for. Our breakfast was AMAZING! Thank you Bruce. Can't wait for our special dinner this evening. This mini vacation was a little slice of heaven. Can't wait to come back. P.S. Dinner was amazing! Ingredients went so well together - from the wine to the bacon-wrapped filet. Bruce you are an awesome chef and I would eat your food any time. Thank you!

Sad we have to leave. Glad to know this wonderful haven flourishes in the mountains and we can return. We had such a lovely and relaxing time here at the Inn (the wine and cheese plate is just the thing), in Big Trees Park, and the live music in Arnold. Just the way a vacation should unfold. So many thanks to Wendi and Bruce for the welcome and the work they put into such a restorative retreat.

From the time we entered this Inn, we knew this was going to be a fabulous experience. The decor is perfect, the grounds are gorgeous, and Wendi and Bruce are the ultimate host & hostess (chef, baker, decorators, companions)! Thank you for making this our favorite ladies' trip! We'll be back. Perfection!

We're lucky to have happened upon the "jewel" of Arnold. Will definitely be back in the future with family and friends.

What a wonderful stay at the Black Bear Inn! we liked Susie's Diner for lunch, but the French Toast here for breakfast was "to die for!" We enjoyed the ambiance, the beautiful art work, and the friendly hospitality. Thank you for a truly wonderful experience!

When I asked "great places to lodge and snowshoe in Murphys," Black Bear Inn popped up! These "others" will be back!

This huge sierra storm, power outage, etc. has turned into a lovely mini retreat for us, thanks for Wendi & Bruce. They graciously even served us some delicious soup, cheese, and crackers when everything in town was shut-down. With more family members coming for Thanksgiving and still no power, they provided wonderful rooms and gracious hospitality for all... Wonderful place, wonderful hosts, delicious food, thank you!

We've had a great two days here. The Inn is really a peaceful haven, and we have been well pampered. The breakfasts have been sinfully good. We appreciate Wendi & Bruce's recommendations for local dining sites. Don't miss the Calaveras Big Trees - a world class treasure minutes away!

Super hospitality, fantastic breakfast. The whole experience at the Black Bear Inn has been exceptional! The attention to detail from the beautiful grounds to the plush robes was greatly appreciated.

As we followed the Black Bear tracks with excitement, there was the Black Bear Inn, nestled in a beautiful meadow, surrounded by the tall trees, with an immaculate garden. So tranquil and beautiful, we were taken back. Like a flash, a sudden calm took over and we were so relaxed. What a perfect place to share with the person you love so much. The hospitality was superb and top notch. We hope to return one day to gaze into each others' eyes as my sunshine and I exchange our wedding vows.

We were just driving by, looking for a room for the night. We walked in and felt as if we were home. Our hosts were the nicest folk and all they wanted to do was allow us to enjoy without worries. Our one night stay here at the Black Bear Inn will last in our memories and we will be back again to create more.
