Historic Interest
Our history begins in 1895, when the building was constructed to house the burgeoning corporate empire of Cone Mills Export Commissions. Cone Mills occupied the space until 1903, when the United States Postal Service made it their local headquarters. A benchmark of luxury from the beginning, our building was the first in town to feature indoor plumbing, electricity, and an unmanned elevator.
First becoming a hotel in 1923, the Greensboro Hotel, as it was originally named, offered private rooms with a daily bath for $2.00 a day. Many great parties and events were held at the Greensboro Hotel. It was a local landmark for almost 25 years, until it was closed due to fire in the mid 1960’s.
