Description

Circa 1901. Reflecting the picturesque design and materials typical of Queen Anne architecture, this historic home with original light fixtures, sliding doors, furniture and memorabilia is listed in the National Register. The main floor surrounds a large living hall that is a great gathering place. The Loft Multimedia Library on the third floor offers an extensive book collection, computer with Internet access, games, and a TV/VCR. Spacious guest bedrooms are well-appointed and tastefully decorated. Breakfast in the formal dining room or on the huge veranda includes orange juice, hot or cold cereal, two biscuits, two scrambled eggs, two Texas French toast, three strips of bacon, three sausage links, hash browns, a large cinnamon roll and hot beverage. Arrange to join Nancy and Loren for a family-style diner. The award-winning landscaped yard blooms almost year-round.

Historic Interest

The original home that was used by General U.S. Grant as his headquarters after the Battle of Port Gibson burnt in 1900. The present home was built on the basement of that home by Jacob Bernheimer the most prominent Jewish businessman in Claiborne County, MS. The home contains many original pieces of furniture and memorabilia.
