Circa 1926. The Benbow family commissioned famous architect Albert Farr to design this Tudor-style inn which first opened its doors in l926 and is now listed in the National Register. The Benbow Inn is an imposing sight, poised on a rock bluff on the banks of the Eel River and surrounded by redwood forests, black oak trees and an English rose garden in Garberville, California. The lobby and romantic guest bedrooms are filled with elegant antiques, paintings, old clocks and books. The dining room of the highly rated and award-winning restaurant overlooks green lawns that lead down to the water. Each summer a dam closes the river to create a lake for boating and swimming.
