DescriptionCirca 1899. This three-story brick Victorian was built by the descendants of President Washington's brothers, John Augustine and Samuel. Harpers Ferry National Historic Park, Antietam, and the Shenandoah and Potomac rivers are all within a 15-minute drive. Thoroughbred racing, slot machines and car racing are some of the popular area attractions. This property has been featured in Washington Post - Feb 03, Good Housekeeping - April 03, Travel Holiday - May 03, Recreation News - May 03, Woman's Day, The Today Show. Location: City/Urban. Inkeepers NotesWhile some curmudgeonly souls might insist there is no such thing as the "perfect" bed and breakfast, the Washington House Inn in Charles Town, West Virginia, comes awfully close. Built at the turn of the century by Samuel Washington, grand nephew of the President, the house is an imposing brick structure with the requisite turret, wraparound front porch, gazebo and all the other stylistic hallmarks of late Victorian gentility. Inside the carefully restored interiors are warm, colorful and historically accurate enough to satisfy the purists without losing their cozy restful appeal. In fact, on first glimpse, we felt like we walked into our idealized, childhood vision of Grandma's house. With all the lovely antiques and decorative accessories spread over three floors, chances are good that you'll probably see something at the Inn that you'll want to take home with you. Well that's okay, because almost everything is for sale. As one guest wrote;"The furnishings, atmosphere, attention to detail and the warmth displayed will bring us back again and again. (But) as lovely as the surroundings were they cannot compare to the inner beauty that came shining through in Nina & Mel." Room DetailLavendar Room
